Arrived at Goulds chemist at 7.20ish am to find it open already and being run with military precision! Paid 3 pounds for them to store my mobile and off I went to the Embassy - a 3 min walk away. My appointment was at 8.30am so I joined the already growing queue. Waited for about 15mins and got to first checkpoint - had to hand lady my appointment letter/asking about electronics on your person - once checked stayed in queue outside for a guy to check my passport and letter again. We were then called in groups of 4 through security (like an airport).

Once I got into the embassy I went to the front desk, was given a number (beginning with I for immigrant) and proceeded to the waiting room. The room is pretty large with about 8 screens in the middle of it. To the right are a bunch of windows (like in a bank!) with officials sat behind. I sat down and began my wait.

Tens upon tens of N numbers were called, non immigrant studenty types mainly! A few E numbers, then I saw the first I number get called, I was only 3 away from it - far closer than I had imagined I would be.

Within about 25 mins I had been called to Window 14 (they had 2 windows dealing with I numbers). An English guy checked my paperwork details, double checked my husbands occupation and address then he told me to go and sit back down and wait for interview. All he did was check of my docs on a tick list and take fingerprints.

I settled back down in the waiting room only to see that the person before me was already having their interview. I realised they had not called the second interview in order and the 2 people before them were still waiting on theirs. Anyway, I only had to wait about 20 mins or so again before I was called for interview with US official.

He was super friendly and it was more like an informal chat, he asked me what hubby did, what I would like to do out there and how long we had been married. He then asked when I would travel if approved. He then said \'Your visa has been approved\', explained the POE process and sent me off to pay the courier bill! Waited in the queue, paid extra for delivery before 8am and will arrive in 7-10 days. Done!!

Overall I was there from 7.30am to 10am! Quick and painless! Nothing to worry about and everyone was really nice! Hope that helps!
