The Sydney Consulate has been nothing but completely professional, helpful, friendly and prompt throughout the duration of this process, and the interview was no different.
My fiancé was with me (USC) and he was allowed to attend the interview also. All staff including the Consulate Officer who conducted the interview, were very friendly and calm which definitely helped put me at ease.
As all my documents were in order and our case was not complicated, the officer asked a few routine questions (where will you live, what job will you do etc) before telling us congratulations you have been approved, and wished me good luck in the States!
It was an extremely pleasant experience.

The L1 visa is a non-immigrant visa, but the process is pretty much the same apart from the interview questions. My fiancee and I plan to marry in the US later this year, and adjust status there.
My appointment was for 9am on Tuesday 25th September.
First up, a reminder: don't bring anything electronic with you. Mobile phones are the obvious problem, but it also includes electronic car and house keys, and the guy in front of me was turned around at security for his internet banking password card.
You have to queue to get into the embassy. This is out in the open, so if it rains, you get wet. Being Britain, you could get very wet indeed. I joined the queue close to where the path meets the road, and waited for 45 minutes.
Once you reach the front of the queue, security check your forms, which for me was the interview and DS-160 confirmation (DS-160 is for non-immigrant visas) and the (MRV) visa receipt, as paid to the call cent... read complete review

Arrived for my 09:30AM CR1 interview at about 08:30AM. Queue was about 20 people, but only took about 25 minutes to get in.
Queue was friendly and talkative, staff asked to see appointment letter(s) and advised putting any metal objects, wallets, belts etc into a small plastic bag they handed out.
Headed into security. My wallet, belt, coins and keys (just keys, NOT an electric car fob) got through fine. The man behind me had some kind of electronic card reader in his wallet and had to go to the pharmacy to drop it off.
Once inside, got my number, I-917. Sat down in the waiting room and waited. Bring some kind of analogue time-telling device (ie: a watch) as there are no clocks whatsoever inside the embassy.
After waiting what felt like 3 days (I think it was around 2 1/2 hours) I was called to window 13. I was asked for a new passport picture, which I had (US size!). I was asked if I had a copy of my birth certificate, as the... read complete review

Arrived at the embassy at around 9.20am, My interview was at 10.00am but there was a small line so decided to join it! I got asked for my interview letter & Passport by two people also to put my watch in my bag, then joined the small line to go into the security 'room'. They put my bag through a scanner, make sure you have NOTHING electrical at all! I then walked through a scanner, all fine. Onto the short walk to the enterance. You go upstairs to a desk where you get a I or N Number. Mine was I. You are directed up more stairs to a huge room. Found a seat and watched the monitors and listened to the numbers being called out. There were many N numbers, not many I's, so I was wondering if I was in the right place! My number got called to window 1. the lady had all my documents, I had to do the fingerprints there, and we chatted abit, she did say don't be nervous! I was there for about 5mins because she couldnt find my medical documents. (The embassy moved my interview forward 2weeks.) S... read complete review
