Rating: | Review Topic: K1 Visa
I am writing this review on behalf of my fiance, who had his K1 visa interview today. He got there about 8:00 AM, an hour before his interview, and verified that he had his packet 4 letter and then was let in the building.
After a while, he was called up to a window and gave a friendly American woman his certificates and my financial documents. They laughed over the huge folder he had with all of our evidence and she gave him his chest X-Ray.
When he got called up to another window two hours later, he had his interview with a young man who kept the tone friendly. He was asked the following questions:
How did you meet?
Who were you with?
What is her job?
Are you sure you want to get married after knowing each other less than a year (this seemed to be a trick question, as we have known each other a few years)?
What is her job? (This was asked twice)
He was also shown the pictures I sent with the I-129F and asked to identify places, circumstances, and people. Halfway through the interview, the interviewer asked to be excused, which worried my fiance a bit. However, he thinks it was not involving him at all, although the interviewer was not as friendly when he got back. After a few more minutes, the officer told him the visa was approved, and my fiance went to pay for the delivery and was given a tracking number.
Overall, my fiance had a good experience with the consulate. The staff was friendly and did not give him any extra stress as they were nice with a sense of humor. However, he said that the waiting area itself can be stressful as there are uncomfortable chairs and no clock to look at. These are minor, though, as we are just ecstatic to be approved!
He also wanted me to add that you should bring your own snacks, as what they provide is not great, and be prepared for a 20 minute wait outside. An umbrella is also a good idea
