Interview process was very quick, though when you are on edge the slightest bit of thinking you have to do can go wrong... so I sat in the back to start with and was moved to the front, and when it was all over I went back into the room instead of out the exit durrr... When all is said and done if you have prepared correctly and got all your paperwork you should be fine.

There was one guy there who clearly didnt have all his paperwork with him.. suspect I know the outcome of that... and the guy in front of me was utterly disorganised, wading his way through mountains of paper trying to find the exact one he needed each time he was asked.

Note the interview techniques used... when I went up for mine he started to hand me back the papers one by one so I had to pick them up and answer his questions at the same time. Also querying the answer to where you met seems to be a common thread.. a ruse designed to put you off I think.. but again if you are genuine and... read complete review

After months of waiting for this day, I can finally relax. All in all my application went through quickly.
Today I was a nervous wreck, turned up at 11am and I was still 5th in the queue, Couldn't relax whilst waiting for my number to pop up on the screen, every time the beep went out I jumped out of my skin.
First had to hand in my documents, The guy was really nice and friendly, this took about ten minutes. After half and hour I was called again. Lovely American lady but very serious. I think she could tell I was very nervous.
She asked for bank statements to prove what money we had as my husband was the sole sponsor.
Questions she asked
Where did you meet you husband
When did you get married
Have I ever lived anywhere else
Where do you plan to live
Why are we emigrating now
Are the children US Citizens
Where is my husband now
Where are the children
When do I plan to leave

My appointment was at 12pm, I arrived at around 11am. There were three people in the queue ahead of me. The queuing area isn't covered, so if it is raining (as it was yesterday)you might like to take an umbrella!

A lady checked my passport and letter from the embassy against a list, and then directed me to the security hut. My bag was scanned and I walked through a detector, just like at any airport. After that I left the hut, walked around the side of the building (it's all clearly signposted), up some steps and into a reception area.

My letter was checked again, and I was given a number. This is the number you watch for on the giant TV screen in the main waiting area. I was directed up some more stairs to the left into the main waiting area, and was told to sit near the front of the room. There is a café/area that sells refreshments in the waiting area, as well as some passport photo machines (£7) for any last minute emergency photos.

I arrived at 11am for my 12 appointment. From the list, I saw that 4 other people had already arrived before me (so clearly you're good to come even before 11, maybe 10:30-45?) and that I was the only K1 booked in for that day. There were two people in front of me at the security line, waiting to go through.

I waited my turn to be called in, put my bag and my documents in a tray, to go through the scanner, and went through the detector. I beeped, was asked to face the window with my hands in the air and to show the soles of my feet, the guy said all good and off I followed the signs into the embassy.

Lady at reception greeted me, checked me off her list and stuck an i number on my DS-160. I was then told to take a seat toward the front of the room, and proceeded to wait until my number was called on the screen.

I had a book with me, as well as my phone for entertainment, but I didn't really feel like reading, I felt so distracted. I waite... read complete review

My wife and I arrived at the embassy at about 11:20am for her 12pm interview on Friday 22nd July 2016. When we arrived we approached a small kiosk where they asked for our ID, interview confirmation and DS260 confirmation. We handed these over where they also asked for my name (since I was the Petitioner). Luckily, my name was on their list of guests for the day. I had only submitted the request the Monday afternoon (18th July) so was a little concerned they wouldn't have processed it in time, but this wasn't the case.

After having our papers checked, we were directed towards security which is essentially like an airport security - belongings through x-ray you through the metal detector. Worth noting is that we'd forgotten that we had an iPad with us, luckily this wasn't an issue. You are fine with electronic items that do not have a keyboard (we only had our iPhones and the iPad with us).

After security, you walk around the corner and up some stairs to a ... read complete review
