Interview date 19th August @ 1200
I was extremely nervous about my interview as I was denied entry in February and knew it was something I would be asked about. I read so many people saying it would be fine but they had not actually had this issue themselves and I'd found hardly any posts saying just how people in my situation got on or what they were asked so I hope this will help ease the minds of any one else that has had this happen.
Arrives at the embassy at 1135, no long line so was inside very quickly.
Around a 30 minute wait to be called to submit documents, Birth Certificate, Divorce Decree, Police Certificate and Fiancees letter of employment, pay slip and tax return. Asked when I wanted to travel and file marked asap.
Waited for another 40 minutes to be called to the widow for interview, very pleasant guy, asked how we met, was it a prearranged meeting, how did the relationship continue after that. Asked when I was divorced, when my fiance was divorced, as he checked those details with his file he asked if I had a copy of my fiancees divorce certificate, they had not received it in the package from NVC. Sadly this was the one item I had no copy of. He asked for proof of meeting as I had a new passport with no US entry stamps in it, I was able to provide my other passports to show this. He then said I can see you were denied entry in February, can you tell me about that? I was ready to go into full detail and started by saying the immigration officers felt I was spending too much time there, he said ok, thats fine. He just asked me to explain why I'd taken so much personal time which I explained and he again said that's fine. He asked me to confirm the i'd never overstayed and then said all this is in order, gave me a 221g blue form and said just get us a copy of your fiancees divorce certificate and we will continue processing, I'll keep your passport and it will take up to 2 weeks once we receive the document.

Everything up to this point was handled really well, they guys tried to put you at ease and were pleasant.
The reason for my lower rating is due to the processing and because somehow the embassy lost the copy of my divorce decree.

I submitted my fiancee's divorce certificate as requested. Interview was a Friday, I sent it special delivery and it arrived Monday morning. They looked at the case on Wednesday, and then Thursday afternoon I received an email requesting AOS I-864 for additional sponsor. I called to query as that should not be required for K1, whilst on hold I received another email stating - ignore previous email, that s not relevant for you but send your original divorce decree. I did get through and the agent I spoke with was confused as I explained they had taken this and copied it at interview. He could only suggest I send in the contact form. I decided to send the form in before doing this, I believe they lost the copy they took. Unfortunately by the time I had generated the courier return form and got to the post office I had missed the next day delivery which left at 4.30, so drove to Heathrow to catch the courier there as they are open until 6, made it at 5.50, only to be told it takes 2 days, and as it was also a weekend, and a bank holiday weekend it would not arrive until Tuesday.
I did submit a contact for to see if I could get clarification on why they needed a document I had handed them at interview, I've never received a response to this.
