Arrived at the embassy at 10.30am, was checked in but asked to return at 11am. When I did I was given the number I913, so I think there must be a sweet spot arrival time around 10.45am.
I waited about an hour to hand my documents in. The British-sounding guy was very nice and we had a little chat about Japan (where I used to live) and anime while he was organising my documents. I was asked for my passport and DS-160, my birth certificate, my two police certificates (UK and Japan) and the I-134. For supporting evidence I provided my fiancé's 2015 tax return.
A long lunchtime wait (maybe 1.5 hours) until I was called up for interview. The interview was incredibly quick and the IO was lovely. Questions I was asked:
- Where did you meet your fiancé?
- How long were you in Japan together?
- Did your fiancé return to the US when you left Japan?
- When did he go back to the US?
- Where does he live?

Arrived early (10.30 for a 12pm appointment) and was allowed to enter early after a brief wait. Very straightforward getting in, can take bag and phone etc. Called up to first booth quite quickly, where the guy pointed out that my DS-160 had 'FNU' (first name unknown) for the first name, slightly confusing form but definitely my fault. A very stressful hour to get it sorted but I was amazed (and very grateful!) at how he helped me get it fixed and then we pressed on with the rest of business. Requested appointment and courier confirmation, passport, birth certificate, police certificate, affidavit of support. For the latter my fiancee is a student so no income, and he was perfectly happy to use my finances for support.
Once that was done was another short wait and then the interview, where I was asked how we met, why we have been together 7 years and only getting married now, and then the final question what are you going to do in the US...to which I gave a long answer ... read complete review

My fiancé was in and out in just under an hour! We hadn't had any RFEs or any other issues in the process leading up to the interview, so overall it was a very smooth journey. Because my fiancé and I met while we were living abroad (China), the questions focused on how we met and what we were doing abroad. Four questions in total, all pretty standard. Very happy! javascript:emoticon(' ')

Well my interview was at 12.30pm, got there about an hour before, went up to the tent, no queue, he stickered my interview letter and i went through the security cubicle, all fine there, ask to see passport, went into embassy and waited to be called to first window, after 15 mins was called up, took fingerprints, us sized passport photo ds-160 and affidavit of support, birth certificate, death certificate, then got told he needed no further paperwork off of me, sat down for a further half hour, number came up again, went to window and she asked the standard questions, how long have you known each other, wedding plans, how many years have you been with him, what job did i do, any flights booked, she was so friendly and smiley, then she stamped me approved, i nearly cried with relief, my medical was delayed due to needing a letter from my doctor, but only by a week, unfortunate that fell on labor day weekend, so a few extra days waiting, it was issued 09/14/2016 and i received it 09/22/2... read complete review

APPROVED!!!!
I arrived at 11:05, where there was a gazebo outside the US embassy, under which was a lady at a desk. She asked for my passport and DS-160, signed it, and then pointed me to the direction of the security cabin, where I was told to put my belt and mobile phone in a plastic bag. My passport was checked again and my bag was scanned, and I went through a metal detection machine. I was asked to open my bag, as I had a portable charger in it, but once they saw what it was, they let me proceed into the building.
Here I showed my DS-160 at the desk and some stickers were stuck on, displaying the number that I would have to look out for. I went into a large, reasonably grand hall, which was packed with people sitting down, while others were queuing up at windows. I was told to take a seat near the front. There was a large screen, displaying the numbers that were being called up, and at which window. A loud beep noise would alert people when the next ... read complete review
