As with most previous reviews I was pretty nervous before I got to the embassy. I arrived at about 10:45 for my 12:00 appointment but I was allowed to queue up early and go through security. They staff here checked my passport, appointment confirmation, and DS 160.
When I got into the embassy I was given my sticker number and took a seat in the waiting area. The *beeps* as they update the numbers are quite loud, so they're hard to miss! I took this time to double check and prepare my documents, and was waiting for about 10-15 minutes before I was called up to the first window. The man I spoke to was friendly and efficient. I handed him my passport, birth certificate, police certificate, passport photo, affidavit and supporting evidence. He asked me when I was planning to fly out, and noted this down on my paperwork. He handed me my documents from the medical before I took a seat again.
I waited another 10 minutes or so before I was called up to the second window where I was met by a friendly American man. I took an oath to tell the truth, before he asked me:
- How John and I met
- When we met in person
- How many times we had seen each other since this meeting
- What my job in London is
- What John does in LA
This was conversational in tone and it was over before I knew it. I was out of the embassy after about 30 minutes with a huge smile on my face!
I appreciate that hindsight is a wonderful thing, but as others have said, if you're prepared you have nothing to worry about! Hope this is helpful - reading through previous reviews was reassuring and helped keep me calm and focussed.
Good luck everyone!
