 | Review Topic: K1 Visa
 Greetings of Peace!

My fiance already submitted our application for K1 visa first week of December, 2006. My question is... How long it will take to get a K1 visa?

 Thank you!

Everything went smoothly, they didn't ask for any documents since I have already submitted them all at the NVC.

My interview went very well. I think i came there overprepared. I brought all my papers and albums. Some weren't even asked but its good to be prepared. I was asked simple questions like how we met, how many times have we met, why do i love my fiancee, etc. And i got approved! Thanks a lot. Right now, we are living together as husband and wife and we couldn't be any happier than just to be together coz it took us 6 years to be together.

Interactions with the interviewers were professional, thorough, and relatively painless. In the process of petitioning, and waiting, the Embassy was less than perfect in maintenance of the documentation and in communicating. Detail follows, overall I'd say a 4 out of 5, but I'm in a good mood right now 'cos we just got approved.
During the I130 petition process, the embassy lost our annullment originals plus other important docs in an LBC delivery that was signed-for by their mail room clerk. Main cost was time as we all were sitting waiting, they for our papers, and us for their response.
Then the "packet 3" as it used to be called was "lost in the mail", another loss of time for us.
Our congresswoman's staff requested an early interview for us, and the embassy granted 2 weeks advance. But when we got there today (at 6:20am) we were not on the list. We persuaded the guards to let us in. Called to Window X (not a good thing), we were informed that our medical was ... read complete review

The consul and the interview were brief and without incident. It was the support following that put us through the ringer. The lady who answered the phone the first time told me to call back in a month. The second lady I called said that the visa would be issued after the "name check" was completed, and it would not be more than 2 weeks. Third call got me the first lady again who told me it would be a month again!!!GRRRR! Forth call to try and get them to agree to let her pickup the visa at the embassy I was on the phone with them and they were telling me it could take three days for the visa to get printed. That is when my fiancee received the text message from DELBROS about the visa out for delivery. So the people answering the phone, although very nice, are not very well informed.
