The previous night I stayed up reviewing visa journey questions worrying myself over nothing. The first person to ask me questions was a Filipina lady who asked a few questions. Then I was interviewed by an American consular officer. He was very kind and I was dreading that it would be like the horrible stories I've read on here but it wasn't. Interview didn't last very long. He asked me a few questions about me and my fiancé, looked at my pictures and afterwards the sweet words, "OKAY YOU'RE APPROVED". I am glad we are finally at the next chapter of this journey. I can't wait until the happily-ever-after END!

\"I don\'t see any problems. Your visa is APPROVED! Congratulations!\"
Those beautiful words brought an 8 month journey to a close. Well, not a close, but a transition. Anyone who has been through the Fiancée visa process--or any visa process I imagine--knows that it is/was a long frustrating journey full of fear and uncertainty. The final step was wonderfully anti-climactic by comparison,.
We were in the 7:30AM tie slot for our interview at the embassy. Joan was up at 1:45 to get ready...I agreed to a 3:00 wake up call! We had instant noodles and bread and butter for breakfast and were in the taxi by 4:20AM! The embassy is a five minute taxi ride from the hotel so we pulled up at 4:30...to find an incredibly large bunch of people already waiting! Turns out that there were 6:15 and 6:30 time slots for tourist and other types of visas. The K-1 line was actually very short. We were the third in line. What looked chaotic at first was actually very well organ... read complete review

Some things went well, other things didn't go so well. We arrived at the embassy at 5:30. We were directed to the line for K1 visa applicants . The line was actually seats which we paid 30p each. The weather was great and we were very excited while waiting to go into the embassy. Unfortunately for us this was about the best part of the whole process.
We were directed into the embassy at about 6:30. The first stop was out side the embassy underneath a canopy. Embassy staff took our DS 156, 157, 156K and stapled them, out the passport in a zip lock bag. A pre printed label with beneficiaries name was also affixed to the passport. We were asked "did you take your medical" we answered yes.....
We proceeded inside the first door and went to a booth where we got our number...6193 we were given instructions on what and where to go next. The instructions were in Tagalog so I couldn't understand them. All I got out of it was something about waiting area. We proceed... read complete review

Filing via DCF it was REALLYYYY fast. All I can say for tips and tricks is be proactive.. you'd probably be wasting a good 3 months or so just waiting for your NOA1.. when it was already approved after a week of you submitting the petition. So get up and call the embassy... ask them for an update with your case!
