Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband was interviewed after his document review on December 23, 2025 in Lagos. His interview was originally scheduled for January 7, 2026, however when he got there they told everyone there to stay for the interview because they are trying to "rush the process" (i.e. they are trying to issue visas before the Jan 1st ban takes place). He said there were at least 200 people there though it was 8:00am in the morning. The Embassy was busy the whole day. His interview took 10 minutes and a European American lady interviewed him and asked him the following questions:

How did you and your wife meet?
How long have you been married?
How many times has she been to Nigeria?
Where does your wife live?
Is that a house or an apartment?
How many rooms are in the apartment? My husband did not understand this question that they were asking how many bedrooms so he was trying to count all the rooms (like living room, bathroom, etc. and got confu... read complete review

My husband's visa interview was scheduled for January 7, 2026. However, they expedited his visa interview to December 23rd right after his document review. They approved his visa.

Questions asked:
How did you meet your wife?
Where does she live?
How many rooms is in her apartment?
Where does her parents live?
How often does she see her parents?
What does she do for a living?
What does she do for fun?
How many times has she been to Nigeria?
Did you pay the bride price?
Did you have a traditional wedding?

They also looked at the pictures and said your visa is approved.

Went smooth asked when my husband and I met, how many kids, how long we’ve been together. Also interviewed my step daughter and that was all.

The interview went well. My husband faced some challenges with the CO trying to force a denial, but she failed. My husband said a Superior Officer said that the case I put together was air tight and left no room for questions. My husband was interviewed by two people. The first was a black women. The second was a Caucasian lady who came with our photos in her hands. She focused on previous marriages, and whether I met the children. She went as far as interviewing our 13 year old (which is against their policy). My husband and Th children were finally approved for their visas.
