They were very nice and efficient. I went in March so it was not busy at all and I was in and out in 1 hour on the day of the interview! The medical took approx 2 hours-- there were 8 of us and they have the names on a list so the order is pretty much random. Overall really good experience and much better than the Milan Consulate!

I went to Naples the evening of the Valentines day because on monday i would attend the medicals and on tuesday the interview.
I've found a nice, cheap and cozy B&B close the Mergellina's station, so less than a quarter mile from the Cosnulate. They reserved me the taxi for the next day, at 7.20 am, to go to the Istituto Varelli (7 euros ride). Blood exam done, medical interview, visit, two shots (tetanus and MMR) and chest x-ray, at 10 am I was out of there and i've spent the morning to make a tour of Naples (first time for me there). The afternoon has been like a nightmare: I've controlled several times all the papers and i was in fear that something could gro wrong (I believe in Murphy), during the night i couldn't sleep well at all and as i went out the B&B surely I seemed a guy sent to the death row.
At 8.30 am i was at the main entrance of the Consulate. They say you can't bring any electronic with you, but, for example, if you have a phone you can leave it at the e... read complete review

Everything went smoothly, and the man who conducted the interview was very kind. It helps A LOT if you speak English at the interview.

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husbands medical exam was on January 11 with his interview scheduled for the 12th. However after the interview he was directed to go to the consulate for fingerprinting and was interviewed on the same day (Jan 11th) instead of the 12th. He stated that he was asked about how we met and about our daughter. He was asked few questions and was congratulated and told to pick up the passport with visa and the envelope with documents the next day. He stayed at Hotel Cesare Augusto. He felt the rooms could have been better and he could barely fit in the shower...and he is very thin. But at 45 euro a night it was what we paid for. Naples is a rough place though so be sure to keep safe.

Seemingly hassle free interview.

Everything went smoothly, in fact they didn't even interview him (my fiance). they just took our documents, told him to wait until they called his name, and 30 minutes later they said he was approved and could pick up his visa the next day at 5:00. The day before, he arrived early for his medical exam and was finished quickly. They required 2 vaccinations because he didn't have records. The only bad thing about the whole affair was having to wait an extra day to pick up the visa. I'm rating it 4 because it went as well as we could hope for, but I dont' give it 5 because there should be more than one embassy in all of Italy to handle K-1 petitions ... why not Rome? It's better located. Or one in Milano or Venezia and one in Napoli.
