After we have calmed down a little about our interview and subsequent visa approval we are posting our experience.
We arrived in Napoli Monday in the afternoon after a two and half hour train trip from Roma. Tuesday early morning 8Am we had an appointment at institutto varelli. If you have a hotel in the city you will have to take a cab. Please make sure you pay whatever it reads in the meter because those cab drivers will try to take advantage of you.
We arrived at the instituto around 7:45 and headed for the reception. There is a paper in the wall that instructs all embassy appointments to turn in the passports and sit in the yeallow chairs in the right side of the reception. We waited a few minutes and someone called us. They were all very professional. After a coupole of hours of some tests and waiting we were done. However, they told us we had to be at the US consulate at 2pm to do fingerprints.
At 1:50 we were at the consulate together with all the Visa ca... read complete review

The first day i got there (Naples) i had a horrible view of a city covered with trash...but then i realized that the trash itself was covering a beautiful city! Good people always willing to help you, amazing food (if u don't try the original pizza in Naples you're crazy!), and neat places that u need to discover only by yourself, because if you don't walk around a lot you'd have a bad opinion of Naples. Me and my mom (yes, don't go by yourself, you need support) stayed at the B&B Mergellina, very close to the embassy (about 10 minutes), very convenient (58 euro a night!), but don't expect anything amazing, you're not in a 5 star hotel. Let's talk about the important stuff.

Day 1: The medical exam.

If you're staying close to the embassy you definitely need to get a taxi, because the Istituto Varelli isn't close at all, don't even think about going for a walk!:D So you get a taxi (0815606666 is the phone number) and go to Via Cornelia dei Gracchi, the taxi ... read complete review

javascript:emoticon('') Everything went smooth! God was on our side! The instructions they give about the interview are very limited, not very clear. PREPARATION IS THE KEY!!!!

Review
US Consulate, Naples
Tues., 07/09/2010

8:30 AM, arrival at the fortress. Appointment was 9:00 o’clock. There was a queue, majority were the same persons who did the medical the day before. Guard was only letting one person/one family component at a time. Once inside the gate applicants and bags were screened by detectors and told to leave electronic gadgets at the guards’ post. Me and my daughter were handed a number, 23.
Instructed to proceed right ahead to the first floor. There were applicants already seated and waiting for their turn. The clock went on… tik tak tik tak…t’was about eleven when my number and name was called. I approached the window partitioned by a glass and said my courtesies. The consular employee(a petite, serious looking but nice and well mannered black) initially talked to me in Italian, asked for the forms and supporting documents. Then all of a sudden she was conversing to me in English. She asked fo... read complete review
