Super straightforward. Don't bring electronics to the embassy - leave them at home. There are TINY lockers at security that will fit a phone. Bring duplicates of EVERYTHING. Bring a few different photos x 2 - the first set I provided didn't work for them, luckily my second option did (otherwise I would have had to leave and get them done again). My wait was not long. Questions were very straightforward. The hospital was delayed getting my medical records over to the Embassy due to bad weather (snow) - meant application went to Administrative Processing. Tracked progress on the website.

I had my interview appointment at 10am and as I'm based in Belfast flew in the night before and stayed at the Best Western Plus Vauxhall. It's a perfectly serviceable hotel which is modern, clean, in a quiet residential area and exactly what you would expect from one of these chain places. Rooms are tiny but that didn't bother me in the slightest. They do what looks to be a small continental breakfast but I didn't partake, I was too nervous to eat! there's a Co-op which is a 5min walk along S Lambeth Rd if you need things and a couple of 24/7 shops too. also a lot of food places.
I spoke to the receptionist when i was checking out and they had no problem keeping my overnight bag for a couple of hours while i was at my interview, they have a locked cloakroom so that was very helpful.
I left my hotel at 9:15 and walked the 10mins back to Vauxhall station so I could get a coffee and then walked over towards the river so I could stroll along the river to help ... read complete review

Took a while waiting (2-3 hours) but the actual interview was very quick and pleasant.
I couldn't get an appointment for the medical in time, but they understood. Had to send back in my passport after going to the medical.
I was just a few weeks from my 2 year anniversary, after which I could get an IR1. Asked about this and they said they could just process it after that date if I was willing to wait.
All in all, very good! Still waiting on the medical results which have taken two weeks, and they said it can take two weeks more to process, but that seems long. We will see.

Overall the interview was very straightforward in Dublin. My fiance arrived about 10 minutes prior to her interview time and was allowed into the building. The first person checking documents was not aware of being able to substitute certified copies for original documents like a birth certificate, but did agree after checking with a supervisor. The interview with the officer was friendly and straightforward. They asked how we met, what I did for a living in the states, and if I traveled much. They asked to see the last year tax return, which my fiance provided them with an IRS transcript which was well received. The officer asked to see photos, and asked when did we get engaged. Lastly, they asked if my fiance ever had issues with customs when entering the US on one of her visits. Lastly, our medical was delayed by Mater Hospital, and that was not an issue for the officer, and indicated that we were approved once they receive the medical. All in all, the total time at the emb... read complete review

So I completed my interview with the embassy today, It was reallly straightforward. I had the following documents:
Affidavit of support +copy of petitioners tax returns.
Passport
2 x Passport pictures (5â€x5â€)
Police cert + copy
Birth Cert + copy
Copy of police report from my previous stolen Passport
Evidence of relationship - I had print outs of pictures from the last 6 months. I saw other with physical photographs but I just had a word doc with all the evidence.
Sealed medical.
I had other documents but I wasn’t asked for any of it.
The pre interview was a breeze, got called to 1 window to give in all The above documents. The Irish lady behind the window was a litttle miffed that I’d sent in my notice of readiness before my medical came back even though I had it on the day. There were a few people ahead of me and I overheard the majorities medical hadn’t come back in... read complete review
