Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband had his interview in Mumbai on May 18, 2015 and total time from entry to finish was about 2 hours. He submitted the initial documents necessary and waited for his number to be called. His appt was for 7:30. He was finally called to speak with the CO around 9:15. He was a young American genteleman, sitting alone, no translator or other person of Indian origin was seated with the CO. The first thing he commented on was the organized paperwork and he said he had no questions on any of that as it was perfect! (Yay!) He only asked about 5 questions and all dealt with our previously denied K1 from 2012, which was - were we married previously? My husband answered "No, we were married in January 2014" and at first the CO said he didn't believe him and to go sit and they will call him up later to ask the questions again. My husband said, that's fine, if you call me in 5 minutes or 5 hours, my answers will remain the same. After a little wait, he was called to the CO window a ... read complete review

Interview scheduled at 7:30 am. I arrived at 7:00 am. took us in at 7:05. First stop security check. then cued up to get token no. after few minutes called to first counters where they explained and arranged out documents in order and given us leaflet about rights against domestic violence to read while we wait for our formal interview. then after about an hour called for interview and it was so simple and straight forward. Asked following simple and basic question:

2. How did you guys meet?
3. When did you get married?
4. Who came from US for wedding?
5. What did you study when in Australia? (I was in aus for 4yrs for study)
6. Did you understand leaflet explaining rights against domestic violence?
7. What does she do currently in US?
And that's it, after that he said your visa is approved and have a good day!

simple Easy and straight forward. nothing to worry about.

So after a wait of 8 months we finally had the interview for K1 visa at Mumbai,India. Here are the steps to follow after the case reaches Mumbai.
Get your police clearance certificate from the regional passport office. This is valid for 6months.
After that withing 2 weeks you will get a letter from the embassy giving instructions on the next steps. After you get the letter you can schedule a medical examination. This takes place at Rele clinic, gamdevi, mumbai. For the medical you will need 8 photos of size 2 inch by 2 inch with white background.
You will get yoir medical reports next day. Once you finish medical you can start filling your DS 160 form and keep it ready. As soon as you get the medical reports you can submit the form and make a payment. My interview was at 7:30 am. But, I reached there at 6:45.
We were asked to wait till some representative comes and ask us to form line.
Around 7, one representative from consulate came and he asked us to form a line. There was separate line for immigrant visa.
Once we went inside, we went through security check.
Please do not carry any CD's, because you will have to otherwise go out to give it back.
We were asked to open sealed cover having X-ray Cd. One envelope was kept sealed.
After we went inside we were asked to take our original and photocopy of,
1. PCC
2. Birth Certi
3. Marriage Certi
4. Appointment letter
5. DS-260 (one with biometric appt stamp)

then we were issued tokens and asked for interview preference (at that time we just need to show appt letter)

Then we sat for while, when one indian lady came and organised docs.
Then my token number displayed,
