I was not at the interview. The following is my SO's description of what happened. She arrived at the consulate at 7am and lined up in the immigrant line(the security guard will announce which line to go into, there were 4 lines total). At 7:30am the security guards started to let people in. She was directed with the rest of the people to the 4th floor. She went through a security check and had to hand in her cell phone. She was directed to the interview area and everybody has to recite a US vow. She was called by name to get her interview number. Then called by number to get fingerprinted and then called by number to hand in her paperwork (financial support, single certificate and birth certificate). Wait again and called again by her number to be interview by the SO. The VO was a very nice african american woman. She asked my SO when did we meet, where did we meet, what does she do for work, when we got engaged, and how we comminucate(not language but webcam site). Very... read complete review

Based on the information of my wife, her experience of the consulate is as follows. The night before her interview (yesterday) she did not sleep and consequently was the second person in line at 5:30 am or so. She waited for quite some time until interviewees were allowed inside at 7:15 or so. It seems as though once inside everyone went through multiple security checks. they then had to swear an oath for the interview. It seems there was then some sort of pre-check where local (non-consular) officials checked over everyone's paperwork to make sure all was in order. My wife gives a bad impression of these people. (She also said many were thinking that these local people were going to interview them for visas! it seems this was a fond hope for many) Having been disabused of this notion, they entered into the interview room. From what my wife told me, people of all immigrant visa types are interviewed there (brothers sisters, etc. in addition to spouses). The wife sat in the f... read complete review

We were very apprehensive about the interview after reading the horror stories of people who get denied but have a real relationship.
However, we felt well-prepared and I made the trip to China to be with her during the interview time and attend the American Citizen Hour the prior week.
My impression of the embassy is that they are swamped with applications and really do not have the time to dedicate to each case that cases probably deserve, but the officer I met during ACH was pleasant and answered my questions. I met another officer who notarized something for me, and he was businesslike and a little cool, but again, I think they are always overburdened with work.
The officer that my fiancee dealt with during her interview was businesslike, not warm, but not rude. Her interview lasted about 7 minutes and he spent most of the time reviewing the photographs and reading the letter I had notarized the week prior. The questions he asked were... read complete review

Very fast and good. My wife was one of the last to enter the Consolate that morning and the first to be interviewed and approved. VO only asked 3 easy questions.
Only problem was coffee shop on 4th floor of consolate charged high price for its coffee.

My Guangzhou Experience
Where do I begin??? It had been long… time since I file the I-130. It was back in early 2007. I did not send much proof of evidence to USCIS except marriage
certification. I think?? The I-130 was approved and it was sent to NVC. From NVC to Guangzhou consulate. The package(papers) sent from NVC to Guangzhou consulate was not that big since there was not much evidence. The CR1 interview was in July 2008.
A little background
The first time I met my wife in Mar 2006 via phones. My parent and brother met her in person in 2005. We been exchanging e-mail and talking on the phone for 8 months. We got marry the first trip I got back to China in Nov 2006. While my family and I was in China we visit my parent homeland and also took pictures. We went to Hong Kong, my birthplace, visit the "peak" and also took pictures. I filed the I-130 when I came back to the States. After the trip we continue to exchange e-mail and talk o... read complete review
