Arrived 2 nights before. Stayed in hotel in Guangzhou East station as planned to go to Hong Kong afterwards. Checked out how to get to the consulate the night before, then walked around the area a bit.
Had 9:20 appointment. Got in line about 10 min before. Around 920 they opened the doors and checked ID. Took her about 10 more min to get inside.
I told her I would wait for her in Starbucks across the street. There is another one on the same side of the road, for those who want to wait indoors, about two blocks behind the consulate. Pacific Coffee.
Anyways, decided to join most people, and sit on small stone wall in front of Consulate and wait instead, watching every time the exit door opened, dodging people who want to practice their English with me, the sun, and all the smokers.
There are ladies out there as well who give out fliers to those leaving. At first I was weary of them, but they ended up being quite nice, and ... read complete review

Line was really long, I waited in line for over 1 hour. Make sure to bring certified copies of birth certificate and the police stuff, they did tear the cover of these documents and take the rest, I never got them back.
Overall, people were very friendly there including the local staff members. Only bring your paperwork with you, do not bring cell phones or any electronics. They don't allow any electronic devices and don't have lockers to store your stuff.

for 9:20 appointment people and let them inside the gate (but not inside the building)
3. They put a bar code sticker on the passport
4. About 1/2 wait
5. Enter the building through the security check
6. Enter the interview building. They checks passport & interview appointment paper again
7. Took elevator to the 3rd floor
8. At first window, registered for interview (they asked for packet 4 email)
9. Was given a number and waited
10. A person from Different window called her number and asked for following documents:
- her birth, marriage, and police certificates
- her medical exam sealed envelope
- her passport
- my I-134 form
- my 2013 Tax & W2
11. They gave her a number a... read complete review

Arrived at Consulate at 7:15 for 7:45 appointment. Very efficiently processed. Consulate Officer very polite and questions very basic and straight forward related to relationship and future plans. Was finished and back at the hotel by 8:45 (stayed at the Ascott IFC Hotel directly across the street). I wore a nice button shirt, dark jeans and comfortable shoes. Guangzhou Consular processing has to be the best there is.

I have to say that I have been pleasantly surprised at how quickly and efficiently the State Dept has dealt with our case. After our NOA2 arrived, we received the packet from the embassy in Guangzhou in just a couple of weeks. We followed the steps as outlined here on the website and now have our Interview date scheduled.
On the negative side, we feel like we have been 'ripped off' by the visa agency, UStraveldocs.com. After filing the DS-160 online form, we sent in the Confirmation Code to the embassy and they approved us to schedule an interview. In order to pay the fee, you must use a local bank and local currency. She followed the instructions on the UStraveldocs web site and paid for her visa but when it gave her a receipt, the amount was wrong. My fiancé is a very sharp lady so I believe her when she says she did it correctly. It looked pretty straight forward, cut and paste the number in the box. Anyway, UStraveldocs will not refund or transfer the money so it cost ... read complete review
