My appointment was for 8:30am and was allowed to check in no earlier than 8. I was given a laminated sheet with a number and a list of documents they required for me to get in the order they stated on the list. I then had to clear security just like at the airport. They then direct you down a flight of stairs to an elevator. In the elevator the only floor you have access to is 19. Once on 19 you wait until they call your number and tell you what window they want you at. They called my number at about 8:45am. At the window they asked for the paperwork they required (passport/long form birth certificate...etc.). They told me that the would keep the original for review and they would be returned to me during my interview. I was then instructed to have a seat and wait for my number to be called for the interview portion. They called my number at about 9:30. The guy who interviewed me was very business like and respectful. Asked me some very general questions about my relationship a... read complete review

First and foremost, Thank you everyone for your reviews on this website. It has settled my heart immensely and prepared me for what turned out to be a very successful interview. Those of you preparing, take a look at all these reviews and TAKE NOTE! Be prepared! Know what to expect! This is long-winded, but for the person out there like me who wants to over prepare in order to create confidence, this is for you.

Our interview was on August 14, 2017 @9:30

We flew into Ottawa to stay with some friends, took a bus to Montreal the day before the interview, and arrived at our hotel. We stayed at the Hotel Le Dauphin. I highly suggest this hotel for several reasons (And no, I am not their spokesperson) Firstly, they had the earliest check in from my research, at 3pm. They also had the latest checkout, noon. When we checked out at noon, they stored our luggage for us in a closet so that we could walk around before our flight out, this is a big perk. Secon... read complete review

I arrived at the consulate at 7h30 and my interview was at 8h30. I was the first one there, then another girl arrived, the doors were still not open. Then they opened the doors and asked who had an interview at 7h30, they let the other girl in, then I followed. They gave me a number and a list. I went through security, be aware that even if they take your phone, they will also remove any headphones, portable batteries, chargers, etc. Save yourself some trouble, and keep all those little electronics you won't need right after the interview somewhere else. Then I went downstairs, where they asked us to put our paperwork in the order indicated on the list they gave us. Then they came to get us to go upstairs, where we would have more time to place our papers. We got upstairs and I finished placing them. It was already 8h. Around 8h15 the other girl got called. She then comes back and I asked her how it went, well she wasn't done, it was only giving paper time. A few minutes after I was ca... read complete review

My interview was originally scheduled for August 21, 2017 - however, after extensive questions, and research I learned that K-1 interviews are ALWAYS conducted on Wednesdays. I cancelled and re-scheduled to August 9th. Drove out to Montreal, booked a $50 Airbnb near Olympique Stadium, drove over for 9am with my fiance and his son, and went in by myself. My fiance's son wanted to play Pokemon Go javascript:emoticon('')

I arrived, an officer confirmed my appointment (make sure you have your confirmation letter printed out), and they placed a sticker on my passport and told me to check in with security for a check. They took my phone, and passed through the security check, and handed me a ticket to grab my phone afterwards, and a laminated sheet with a number up at the top, and the order in how to organize my paperwork. They provide instructtions to guide you downstairs to a hallway, with a lone elevator that will take you to the 19th floor where the int... read complete review

Hi Everyone! I had my K1 Visa interview yesterday and I'm writing to tell you about the lead up to it, flight & accommodation details and the interview experience itself.

I'll start by saying my fiancé is from California and we decided to hire an immigration lawyer to help us through the process and ensure everything went smoothly. It was expensive, of course, and we aren't really sure it was worth the cost. I will admit it was helpful when completing the DS160 on line form and for knowing which doctor to contact in advance, but really, that seems to be about it. :/ Unfortunately, the paralegal 'helping' us submitted the Packet 3 email incorrectly. For those of you not there yet, there is a very specific format required for the subject line of the email, which they tell you, but she did not follow it. When we had not heard anything within a day (and saw others were getting the 'go ahead' to schedule within about a day or so), my fiancé became suspicious and started... read complete review
