Our interview appointment was scheduled for 7:30am. As others had suggested, we arrived 30 minutes early and there was one couple waiting before us. We were a little disappointed to realize that the doors weren’t going to open until 8am (particularly since it was quite cold that morning), but at least we were second in line. By the time the doors were opened a small line had formed of about 4-5 couples all waiting for their interviews. The officer who opened the doors allowed two couples in at a time. There was a woman that requested each person's passport. She spoke French and English. She then placed a sticker on the back of the beneficiary's passport and held on to both passports until we left the consulate. We were then given a laminated page that told us what order to arrange our documents. At the top of the page was a number by which we would be called (we were #2).
Next, we were instructed to walk through the security check point. This was exactly like air... read complete review

My K1 visa interview was scheduled for 8am. As other reviews have mentioned - arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before the scheduled time or you will be turned away.
I got to the consulate at 7:30am, there was one person in front of me. The security guard told us we'd have to wait 15 minutes before entering, but it took less than 10 minutes. Once inside the building, you give your passport to security and you will receive a sheet with your number and required documentation. The security was similar to an airport, and you leave cellphone/ fitbit at the front.
The required documentation included:
- Proof of Payment (instructions or email when you booked the interview)
- Passport and photocopy of passport (biography page only)
- 2 US passport sized photos
- Proof of Canadian status, if you are not a Canadian citizen
- Original birth certificate (long form) and photocopy
- Original police check
- Original inte... read complete review

The process was efficient and adequate. My only concern is that after the approval they indicated I have to wait 3 weeks (!!!) to get my passport back and it appears to me a very long time for such a sensitive legal document. I walked out with very mixed feelings due to this and I am still hoping the documents will be returned faster...
To summarize:
My appointments was scheduled at 7:30am, I was at the door for 7:10am there was already about 8-10 people in front of me!
At 7:30 they open the doors and only let appointments from 7:30 in (some people were at 8am and showed up early).
Security: don't bring backpacks, big purses: I only had my wallet, documents and car keys: they kept car and gave me a little number (I think they were doing the same with mobile phones). If you have a big purse/backpack they will turn you away and tell you to come back.
They give you a sheet with your number and your proceed to assemble the documents in th... read complete review

Had my interview on Nov 28th (Appt 9:30) . Total time from entry until exit was approximately 1.5hrs.
Entry (Entrance is on the side, across the street is a Starbucks)
- Came at 8:50, was turned away and asked to return at 9:15.
- Ensure all your documents are placed in a bag and not a laptop bag (mine was in those reusable grocery bags, a gentlemen came with a laptop bag and was turned away.)
- Returned at 9:05, was asked for Passport (I renewed mine, so new passport did not match, hence had to provide old passport).
- I was given a sheet of paper with a number (#23) along with list of documents that I had to put in order for easy access later.
- Advised to go through security.
Security Check
- Same as airport, remove jackets, coins, boots. Put everything in the tray for them to scan. YOu walk through a detector and the guys did a scan on me both back and front.
- They kept my cell phone, gave me a ticket ... read complete review
