My interview with US Consulate, Montreal was the easiest part of the whole immigration process. My appointment was for 9 am and tried to get early as 7:20 but was told by the consulate guard to come back at 8:30.
I came back at 8:20 and was allowed to get in. And just like as what other VJ members have said, got a laminated number (#17) and then security check and asked to go to 19th floor. There I seated on the side of immigrants waiting area and compiled all the requirements according to what was asked from the laminated number.
After half an hour I was called on window #3 to submit the requirements but not all. Since I submitted the documents through NVC (scanned docs) they just asked for original police certificates, marriage certificate, birth certificate, passport, passport size photos and copy of latest W2 (2017). That’s it.... I brought tons of original and copies of other documents from myself and spouse but they didn’t ask at all....

I have been in a long distance relationship with my (then boyfriend, now husband) for the past 9 years. When I say this was a long time coming, it was a LOONG time coming. The whole process of sponsorship was honestly nerve wrecking and stressful. We weren't sure about a lot of things, but honestly, we took our time and completed the forms and followed all instructions and it went well. Though the process may be lengthy...it's well worth it. My interview was a couple of days ago, we stayed at a hotel in Dorval (roughly 25 mins away from consulate). A lot of the downtown hotels require a daily parking fee so we wanted to avoid that. We waited outside the building for about 10 to 15 mins (Arrived there for 7:15 am); YES your significant other is allowed inside with you. Once you show your passport to the lovely lady, she will give you a laminated sheet with the list of docs to put in order and the number that you'll be called. You pass security check and go a few steps down to wait to ta... read complete review

Straightforward. Waiting took a while but actual interview was 15 minutes. Asked about how we met and relationship.

Review Topic: K1 Visa

What an awesome experience at the US Embassy in Montreal.
My interview date was today at 8am for a K-1 Visa.
Honestly the time of the appointment means nothing!! I got there extra early cause from reading online it’s pretty much first come first served.
I arrived at 7am and there were four people I front of me. We waiting till 7:30am and they started to let people in one by one (like I had heard they do)
I entered ( HUGE STEP BE CAREFUL I TRIPPED) they took my appointment letter and passport. They gave me a laminated paper with the #4 and a list of documents.
Went through security I didn’t bring a purse just a snack and my wallet. They said I could keep the snack if it was a medical thing I said t wasn’t. They kept my phone my Apple Watch and my snack!
I went down stairs to the waiting area for the elevator. A security guard got us in the elevator and we headed up to the 19th floor. Once at the top we sat on the right si... read complete review

Arrived at consulate around 8:40am for 9am interview.
Went through security at the door, they take your phone from you and give you a ticket to pick it up after your interview.
Went upstairs and waited from 9:00am-10:15am to be called to the first window.
They take your passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate and police check.
Went back to the seating area from 10:20am-11:30am.
Got called to the second window at 11:30am.
They asked a few basic questions, returned my original documents minus the passport and gave me a standard piece of paper to track my passport.
Passport was mailed back to me the next business day and arrived at the post office the following day.
I picked up my stamped passport two days after my interview.
Overall good experience. A lot of waiting.
