Stressful experience but the staff & other beneficiaries were extremely helpful & understanding. Lots of questions to which they were very accommodating if I was not immediately prepared with an answer. Several wildcard questions but overall an acceptable experience.

I got there about 10 minutes ahead of time for my interview. Highly recommend getting a place within walking distance of the embassy. It might cost a little extra but the peace of mind is worth it especially considering the morning rush hour traffic. Waited a while in the seating area. The first appointment was for document verification/biometrics. The actual interview was about another hour or so later. The focus of the interview was completely about my wife and whether she had enough financial resources to support me. The fact that I had a six figure job offer already pending the outcome of the interview did not matter to the interviewer and actually worked to my disadvantage. The officer reasoned that it looked like my wife was "moving because of me and not because she wanted to". Had to provide her college/school transcripts, US bank statements, a lease agreement with her parents and (probably most importantly) a letter of employment from a US employer ( please note that it was onl... read complete review

After a long wait of 6 months I had my CR1 category interview on 5th August, 2019 (8am). I stayed at L'Appartement Hôtel (455, Sherbrooke St W). The hotel is just brilliant in its service and just walking distance from Consulate. I reached the consulate around 7:05am and there was already a queue. After waiting some time, the security guard opened the door and asked people to enter one by one. After entering the consulate, the lady at the desk asked for Passport and Interview letter (I didn't get any IL in postal mail so just showed the email print). She confirmed the name from the list she had. Then she put a sticker on backside of my passport and gave me a laminated sheet which has a number written and the order of the documents. After this there is a security check where is similar like the one at any airport. Special instruction: DO NOT BRING ANY BACKPACK. If you have a backpack then security guard doesn't allow to enter and tells to go to Eaton Centre to keep bag there. You c... read complete review

Hi everyone,

I just had my interview this morning and now have a long wait until my flight home, so it seems like a great time to leave a review while the experience is still fresh in my mind! The whole experience was very smooth and stress-free. Reading reviews prior to the interview definitely helped me feel more prepared, so thought I would pass it on.

I spent a week in Montreal in order to get my medical done at Medisys (now called Horizon Occupational Health Solutions). I am from Saskatchewan and there are no immigration doctors out my way so it made sense financially to do everything in one trip, as Medisys requires at least 3 business days to have the medical results ready. Why not make a little vacation out of it! I stayed in an Airbnb about a 25 min walk from the embassy in order to keep costs down for my long stay. The area surrounding the embassy is great, you can walk literally anywhere and find anything you need in the area and on St. Catherin... read complete review
