My appointment was on December 11 2020 at 9:30 AM. I got to the consulate at 9:25 and was let in by a security guard at 9:30. A couple of other people were waiting outside as well but the guard said she'd only be letting in people scheduled for 9:30.
When I went inside she asked to see my passport to confirm my name on a checklist and asked me some covid-related questions. She let me into the lobby where there were a few border agent-esque officers who told me to put my things (coat/gloves/scarf, phone which was turned off, and folder of paperwork) in a bin to be x-rayed. I walked through a metal detector and was scanned with a handheld metal detector by one of the officers as well. They took my phone to put in a locker and gave me a key to hold onto. They directed me to take the elevator, which brought me to a big waiting room with probably 12 other people waiting, sitting socially distanced, and I think 11 numbered service windows/counters.

My wife’s appointment was at 10:15am. She got there a little early and was told to come back as they were backed up (about 45 mins behind). She was let into the building around 11am where she waited in the lobby. Only 3 people were allowed in the lobby at a time. She was in the lobby for about 10-15 minutes before she was allowed to go through security. After going through security, she took the elevator to the first floor and was told to take a seat until one of the windows were clear. After 5 minutes, a security officer directed her to an empty window (it was either window #6 or #7). When she was called up, she gave her passport. She was asked to provide the following:
- Confirm Canadian and US address (I moved recently so she provided my updated address)
- Confirm Canadian and US phone numbers (you won’t have your phone so make sure you have this memorized!)
- Original Marriage certificate
- Original Birth certificate
- Police... read complete review

As nervewracking as this day can be, it went smooth.
Of course, keep an eye out on all the documents you need to bring. Make sure your criminal record isn't a year passed, if not it`s expired.
Say a little prayer to help stay at peace
3 weeks later and still waiting for my mail but I'm just thankful all went well, the interviewers were kind and the interview and medical is done!
Woot woot!

Smaller set up than prior consulate on St-Alexandre. Little privacy between applicants (can hear other interviews).
Interview focused on my particular circumstances with US presence. Very few questions asked about my spouse or our relationship.
Received green (not pink) paper on successful interview. Reason unclear, border guards in VT have never seen a green approval paper before.
