It went well! Lots of waiting but pretty smooth and straightforward. Just make sure you bring everything because you never know what they'll want from you. It's not as formal as I thought it'll be. The interview is through a window and it's not a sit down interrogation type of interview...it's more like you're applying for a driver's licence. aha.

The whole experience felt more like going to the DMV than anything particularly special. The security outside the consulate was not overly friendly and some of their instructions were not clear. The physical layout of the waiting room was setup to accommodate social distancing requirements, but the sight line to the information screens is obscured by some of the pillars in the waiting area. The staff were friendly and efficient. My application had been impacted by the COVID-19 shut downs in 2020, and so the emotions of waiting for that appointment were at a high. When I was told "your visa will be approved today", I got teary. The official was kind and offered some nice words along with the good news. You can tell they are doing their best with the resources that are available.

My experience was pretty much as everyone else's, but my batch of applicants were let in couple minutes early before our 8:30am schedule (it was three of us entering at the same time).
I submit my passport first, then was called again to submit all of my documents (photos, birth certificates, mine and my grown children, marriage certificate, legal name change certificate, divorce certificates, mine and my husbands, police certificates, Canadian and from my birth country).
At the actual interview was asked many more questions than majority of applicants:
Address of my husband, and if we are planning to live there,
His phone number,
His place of employment and occupation,
What do I do for a living
How long ago I immigrated to Canada,
How my husband and I meet,
Where did we get married and when,
Who was attending our wedding,
How often we visit each other since we applied,
Where have I traveled in the last... read complete review

This day was a blur but I'll try my best to recall everything.
I got to the embassy at 0933 and was told to wait outside as my interview was at 0945. So I stood there and waited with my parents. A security guard came out to tell them not to lean on the planters as the owner apparently doesn't like that (random info, but I thought it was funny). The officer came out at 0945 to call out the time. I entered, put my wallet and binder in a bin so that it could be scanned (like at the airport). I walked through a metal detector then was told to put my phone in a locker they provided and keep the key. So I did. Then I went in the elevator, up to the floor I was told to go. It's basically one big room with a lot of chairs and windows. It's dead silent, no one is talking except people at the windows.
I stood at the window the officer from downstairs told me to stand. No one was at the window so I was a bit confused. Someone came eventually, took my passport, gave me a numb... read complete review

Medical Date/Time: March 30th, 2021 / 11:30am. K-1 Visa medical.
Total duration: 2 hours. Gender: Male.
When I arrived a few minutes before my appointment time, there was a lady sitting outside of the entrance to the clinic on the 22nd floor checking people in. I gave my 5 passport photos, vaccinations records, interview confirmation letter, and confirmation of payment for the interview. Once I was accepted in I went to the receptionist who took my driver's license and photocopied it (they asked for my passport but any government-issued photo ID is acceptable), gave me back my vaccination records and told me to wait.
I don't remember how long I waited but I was then called by a nurse who checked over my vaccination record again and said it was very rare for someone to have all their vaccinations done beforehand; I suggest you vaccinate before going because the prices range from $50-200 (I had MMR, Hep A + B, flu, TD - tetanus and diphtheria without ... read complete review
