Overall very smooth process. Stayed at the Best Western 1 block from the consulate as my interview was at 9am. Checked out the consulate building the evening before my interview just to make sure I knew where I was going. Walked in the morning and got to the consulate doors 10 min before interview. Officer made me wait outside for 5 min. then let me in. Go thru airport style security and then up elevator to 1st floor. Immediately went to the first window to drop off my passport then sat down for 1 hour before getting called up to a different window where a friendly lady asked for the original docs I had brought including latest tax return for my wife. Sat back down for another hour before getting called up to a 3rd window for the actual interview. A different very friendly lady that asked when and where I had been married. When and where we met. What we both did for work. What my financial sponsor did for work. And finally where I had traveled internationally in the past 5 years. I sai... read complete review

CR1 VISA approved!! 🥰â¤ï¸
- They asked me for my passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate and police certificate (they did not ask any of my husband’s document at all). They asked for my police certificate of the Philippines, however i don’t have it, and i didn’t need to provide it because i was 9 years old when i came to Canada, which is the reason why the lady also said they didn’t need it as i was underage.
- Interview: I was just asked who is my petitioner, how did we meet, when and where, which state i will be going, what he does for work, if he was previously married, if we have a kid together. She also asked if i read the document that i was given before this step, and she asked what was it about. (Domestic Violence paper)
My appointment was at 8:45 AM and got out by 10:15. I was super nervous. You get to the elevator, then you stand on Window 6, the person sometimes isn’t t... read complete review

It went well! Lots of waiting but pretty smooth and straightforward. Just make sure you bring everything because you never know what they'll want from you. It's not as formal as I thought it'll be. The interview is through a window and it's not a sit down interrogation type of interview...it's more like you're applying for a driver's licence. aha.

The whole experience felt more like going to the DMV than anything particularly special. The security outside the consulate was not overly friendly and some of their instructions were not clear. The physical layout of the waiting room was setup to accommodate social distancing requirements, but the sight line to the information screens is obscured by some of the pillars in the waiting area. The staff were friendly and efficient. My application had been impacted by the COVID-19 shut downs in 2020, and so the emotions of waiting for that appointment were at a high. When I was told "your visa will be approved today", I got teary. The official was kind and offered some nice words along with the good news. You can tell they are doing their best with the resources that are available.

My experience was pretty much as everyone else's, but my batch of applicants were let in couple minutes early before our 8:30am schedule (it was three of us entering at the same time).
I submit my passport first, then was called again to submit all of my documents (photos, birth certificates, mine and my grown children, marriage certificate, legal name change certificate, divorce certificates, mine and my husbands, police certificates, Canadian and from my birth country).
At the actual interview was asked many more questions than majority of applicants:
Address of my husband, and if we are planning to live there,
His phone number,
His place of employment and occupation,
What do I do for a living
How long ago I immigrated to Canada,
How my husband and I meet,
Where did we get married and when,
Who was attending our wedding,
How often we visit each other since we applied,
Where have I traveled in the last... read complete review
