Arrived Vancouver afternoon Tuesday March 20th, 2012. Horrific drive from Kelowna to Vancouver. Took the Connector and Coquihalla - high mountain passes. Severe winter weather ground traffic to a complete stop for 2 hours while highways sorted out plows and graders. Stayed at the Burrard Inn - 1/2 block from Woking Medical and 15 minute walk to US Consulate. Smaller boutique style hotel. Our room was recently renovated. Clean, quiet, very helpful staff, on site parking. Elevator broken and we were on 3rd floor. Long day.

btw I booked appointment on-line for US Consulate. At first I booked for February as my Fiance was in town and we thought it would be good to go together, but I had sent my passports (for my daughter and myself) away to be renewed. I was worried about having "at least 6 months validity" and they were expiring in October. Anyways, passports didn't make it back in time. Rescheduled for March appointment. Paid the US Consulate fees on-line as ... read complete review

I arrived at 6:40am, for my 8am interview. There was no one else there, not even workers. The sign on the door said they open at 8am. I thought I'd showed up way to early until ten minutes later when the next person showed up. By 7am there were plenty of people in line and I was glad to have gone so early.

At 7:33am they opened the door, and since I was first in line, let me in.

Someone checked to see that I had my appointment confirmation letter and my passport.

The next guard did not say anything to me. He just tapped a sign on the desk that said profane language and verbal or physical abuse is not tolerated and will result in your removal from the building. He then said empty your pockets and turn off your cell phone. He kept my phone and gave me a ticket. Having my phone did not add any extra time really. Maybe 10 seconds. Not an issue. I walked through a metal detector with no problem. They let me keep my house keys, wallet with pape... read complete review

Visa...APPROVED!

We returned home from Montreal last night and we couldn't be happier. I'll try to be as detailed as possible in my review, since I found the detailed reviews helpful in my preparations.
A bit about our unique situation. I am the USC, my husband is Cdn (born in Ireland). We met almost 7 years ago while we both lived in (basically) border towns. We married almost 6 years ago and I went through the whole Cdn immigration process so I could move up to be with him. We've been living together in Canada for the past 3+ years. (Yes we were married for 2 years before we ever lived together).
We actually DCF'd our I130 back in Aug or Sept 2009 in Toronto (when it was still allowed). That was approved but then we started having second thoughts about leaving Canada so quickly. We decided to get some things done on the house (prepping it for eventual sale) and also to wait for me to get Cdn citizenship. That way, if we ever want to come back, we can, wit... read complete review

Living in Toronto, for reasons I am not sure. The USCIS sent my file to Vancouver which i see had a shorter time wait then Montreal. Vancouver was quick to stop the process and delay and transfer the file to Montreal which then took several weeks. Montreal being month behind, this only added to the frustration as I had already received my packet 3, and booked my flight, hotel and appointment with medical.
I found the information lacking in the prodigal and procedures from the two consulates huge in there variation and Montreal not clear what so ever. Where as Vancouver gave you a clear step by step instruction. Montreal just sent you on a strange link finding mission. I booked my interview, as I had already taken my medical as per instructions following the Vancouver packet 3 steps, Montreal demanded I send them more documents which i promptly did. I did a trace on the package and Montreal did receive them, no word. two weeks later they inform me they have tight security measure... read complete review
