My interview was scheduled for June 28th at 8:00 a.m. I drove from London, Ontario and all was fine except my GPS identified the wrong street for the hotel and I ended up driving around for quite sometime before a man I accosted in a mall helped me reprogram it for the right location. I pre-booked a room at the Travelodge on Boul. Rene Levesque Ouest. When I arrived there was no real place to park while I checked in - difficult to say the least. They also had no parking available late in the afternoon so I had to park at a government spot several doors down the street and at a cost of $27 for the night. The room was fine but the bed was rock hard. In the morning I was up at the crack of dawn and at 5:00 a.m. was unable to get hot water in the shower after running the water for 20 minutes or so. I finally gave that up. They also have no restaurant except a cafe that operates from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.n. for breakfast only. I would not recommend the Travelodge except that it is on... read complete review

My fiance D. and I drove up to Montreal, from Connecticut, the night before the interview. We had booked a hotel on hotwire.com and ended up getting, for 100$ + tax, a room at the Holiday Inn Midtown at 420 Sherbrooke West (right next door to Medisys, in case any of you need to pick up your medical results in the morning, or something). The location was perfect; it was literally a 5 minute walk from the Consulate.

After researching this website through and through for months, I knew that I wanted to get there early in the morning. My appointment was at 8am. We left the hotel around 6:40, crossed the street quickly to buy coffee and a banana, and off we were. At the Consulate, around 6:45am, there was already about 8 people standing in line (on the wrong side, it took everything in me not to stand first on the left side, hah!), some of which were the sponsors. We started talking to the couple in front of us, who were also there for a K1 - ends up he, the American, was a V... read complete review

Today my fiancé and I went to the Vancouver US consulate for our K-1 visa interview, after waiting and sending paperwork for roughly 8 months (we applied near the end of October) and being together long-distance for years.

As you'd expect, we were pretty nervous. The interview was for 10:00am, and from what we had read, the consulate was very restrictive on what you could bring inside. I didn't really want to risk my fiancé being kicked out for having an electronic car key, so we took a cab and carried light besides our pile of paperwork and evidence. It turns out they have lockers of sorts near the entrance when they search your belongings the first time, so you could probably store such things there as long as they're small. The most intimidating part was the process of getting in the building and up to the floor with the interviews, as there is a lot of security. Fortunately the interview floor gives you a chance to sit and unwind as you have to wait with other peop... read complete review
