My husband and I both went to Montreal for our interview on Valentine's Day.
We decided to make a trip out of it as well. We stayed at Embassy Suites near/in Old Montreal. AMAZING hotel 10 minutes away (walking) from the Embassy.
We got to the Embassy at around 7:30a.m. People were lined up outside and there was a girl taking our Loomis confirmation number and passport. She was looking up to see my name and crossed it off on the list. Then I had to empty all the contents from my coat into a container for security.

We were sent into a room to wait for the elevator. A man then came in and told us to go up to the 19th floor. It was a group of us. At the 19th floor you get out and proceed to this booth to tell them the reason why you are there (I said permanent residence visa). They give you a number. Then we waited about 30 minutes until we were called to the counter. At the counter I was for some information, she verified my name and address etc... read complete review

My appointment was at 10am. I arrived around 9:30 ish. I had parked right across the street in a parkade (costs about 20 bucks). I'm sure there is cheaper parking in the area but I was in a hurry and paid for the convenience.

The entrance is just to the side of the Manulife building and you will see people lined up and security guards screening people. If you are for a K1 visa just tell them and they will call upstairs to confirm. You will then be asked if you have any of the non-allowable items on the poster. HINT: do not bring a backpack or large purse, you will be turned away! Also no sealed envelopes except for the medical envelope which they know has to remain sealed.

Once they let you through screening, you line up in the corral and a security guard will let people in the door around 6 at a time or so. There is a small flight and a half of stairs then once in the building you are screened again, told to empty pockets, take belts off etc and put you... read complete review

Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa

My husband and I went to Montreal a week before the interview date, which had been rescheduled for Jan 29th. His medical was scheduled for Jan 22nd at the Medisys there in Montreal. (we got results back Monday afternoon, so just in time for interview next day). We stayed at Le Hotel Dauphin which is just a short walk from the consulate. Very nice hotel and within walking distance to most everything you would need during the stay.

The morning of the interview we left the hotel at 6am in order to go to Tim Hortons for a coffee and breakfast. The Tim Hortons is just a block from the consulate. We got to the consulate just before 7am and there were already 2 couples and 2 others waiting. They were standing on the wrong side but thanks to other reviewers on visaJourney I knew we had to stand on the left side of the building. Hubby said are you sure? Everyone is lined up on the other side. I just smiled and said trust me. Shortly after that one of the couples said the line w... read complete review

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Our interview was January 22, 2013. The interview was for my K1 Visa and my kid's K2 Visas.

We decided to stay at Le Square Phillip Hotel & Suites. It was a 3 min walk to the consulate. A very clean, nice suite. Perhaps a little more expensive, but I wanted to be close by as we were walking to the consulate in minus -20 degrees weather.

We got to the consulate about 7:10 am and were 2nd in line. About 7:30 am they opened the doors and let the first guy and us in to go through security. They asked for our passports and appt. letter with the Loomis confirmation. We took off our coats, hats, mits, emptied our pockets and went through. My daughter was drinking a chocolate milk that we had gotten at Timmies on our way, and the security guard told us that she would have to finish it before going up the elevator. I had only brought my folder of paperwork... nothing else.. I had left keys, cell phone etc. back at the hotel.

We went down a fl... read complete review
