Thanks to the many VJ reviews I got downtown at about 630 from the airport. Went to Tim Horton\'s just 2 blocks West of the Consulate. Left Tim\'s at about 7am and got there a few minutes later to find only one couple ahead of me who had been there since 430 because he\'d been there before where the line had been down the street and around the corner. Security guards start buzzing around inside around 715 and I didn\'t have my cell phone or a watch but I am guessing the doors opened just after 730. The people in front of me didn\'t have their courier number so they were turned away leaving me now first in line. Security no problem because all I had were my documents and some magazines. Left my cell phone at the airport with their cloak room as I didn\'t not have a hotel room because I was flying out the same day. Went down the stairs and sat to the right of the elevator. When it opened there wasn\'t a mad rush, the security guard just told us to go in and hit 19. I went to the back, bu... read complete review

Hello everyone.
I had my interview on Jan 7, 2012 at the Montreal Consulate. Everything went fairly smoothly except for the -20 weather. There are many helpful hints from this website (such as Jacqfass' review) so I definitely recommend reading them before you go.
However, I would like to highlight a few points that I found important.
1. Bring copies of your Payment Receipt and Appointment Letter. The lady behind the counter told me their system is not always up to date. They couldn't find my appointment or proof of payment on their system. So be prepared.
2. Bring copies of your sponsor's tax receipt transcript.
3. After getting your number, walk directly to the rows of chairs in front of the interviewer counters (across the room). Make sure the people behind the counters can see you. There is little communication between the person who gives you a number and the one that will be collecting evidence. There w... read complete review

The wait time wasn't very long... short wait to go through security and then only about half an hour wait until our interview. Interviewer was really nice and really just processed us through. Great experience!

My experience at the Montreal consulate was actually very good except for the outcome (I'll get to that shortly). I read at least 100 reviews the night before my appt and they really helped ease my mind and my stomach . I found this thread from VJer Saylin to be particularly helpful with regard to where to go, what happens etc: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/359761-montreal-consulate-picturesmaps/.
I stayed at the Quality Hotel Downtown(CN329)3440 av du Parc, Montreal, QC, CA, H2X 2H5 Phone: (514) 849-1413, room rates were on par with other hotels in the area and the room was ok, not fancy but clean and warm (-18 with the windchill today). It was a 10 min walk to the Consulate.
I arrived just before 07:00 and there were two people in line, we started chatting and before we knew it the door was open.

My family, fiance and I all stayed in Montreal for the weekend at Le Nouvel Hotel. It was about a 4 minute drive to the consulate. My dad drove my fiance and i to the consulate, we arrived at 7:35am Monday December 17th. When we arrived there were about 3-4 others lined up outside. We were not sure if my fiance was going to be allowed in or not. When we were next to go inside the security guard asked if it was the two of us and i said yes, and they let him in with me Then a lady took my passport and put a sticker on the back. While waiting in line for security, i saw a lady get rejected because her purse was too big. So honestly, the best thing is just don't come with one! Thankfully she must have put them in her car or somewhere because she came back.Once it was our turn to go through security we had to take everything out of our pockets, and place them in the bin to go through the scanner. Then my fiance walked through the scanner, and i did and set it off. So they... read complete review
