My husband and I both went to Montreal for our interview on Valentine's Day.
We decided to make a trip out of it as well. We stayed at Embassy Suites near/in Old Montreal. AMAZING hotel 10 minutes away (walking) from the Embassy.
We got to the Embassy at around 7:30a.m. People were lined up outside and there was a girl taking our Loomis confirmation number and passport. She was looking up to see my name and crossed it off on the list. Then I had to empty all the contents from my coat into a container for security.

We were sent into a room to wait for the elevator. A man then came in and told us to go up to the 19th floor. It was a group of us. At the 19th floor you get out and proceed to this booth to tell them the reason why you are there (I said permanent residence visa). They give you a number. Then we waited about 30 minutes until we were called to the counter. At the counter I was for some information, she verified my name and address etc... then my fingerprints were scanned. We were then told to sit back down. We waited about an hour to be called into another booth for the interview. He asked us how we met, what year, what we do for a living and what our plans are for the future when I move. They didn't even need the passport photos that was requested. It was actually quite simple. The officer then gave me a sheet explaining the process of having my documents shipped to me and point of entry. He did say that driving across was less time consuming as opposed to flying. We were done in about 2 hours total.

My advice is just to be organized, make a few photocopies of each required document. Bring pictures, school transcripts/receipts/diplomas, flight stubs, anything that may help prove who you are as a person and how you met. I carried a binder with clear protective page covers that I put all my info in so that nothing fell out or got ruined. I then had a large clear folder to insert all the documents that I needed to show to get in so I wasn't fumbling around in my binder. Other than that, it was very simple as long as you have all the proper documentation.
