So, being a little anal, arrived at 6:45, prepared for a line. Was the first one there. Joined about five minutes later by a fellow VJ'er, but at least another ten before the line started. At 7:30, when the doors opened, there were only about a dozen people in line.
Screening was a breeze, and downstairs to wait in line. This is where the previous advice was a little lacking. Sure, I was first in line outside, and seated closest to the elevator...but when tsecurity came to open the elevator, a flood of people just pushed right in front. I was glad of the advice to go towards the left, as that is the side the doors start to open, but reception is not on the left, it is straight ahead. I managed to score applicant one.
This is where my intel was less than stellar...there was aflood of people, but only five of us had interviews and were given numbers. Most people there are for visitor visas, and are just directed to stand in another line and wait. ... read complete review

If you have the option, take the Sky Train to the Consulate, which only costs a few of dollars and drops you just a block or so away. So much easier and cheaper than worrying about a vehicle in the middle of downtown Vancouver. They won't let you line up to go in until 15 minutes before your appointment. Hang out for a little bit if you get there early...walk around, try to relax, and enjoy the experience for what it is.
Once it's time, you'll get in line and make your way up to the primary security checkpoint. Here they verify your identity and appointment, and give your belongings and documentation a quick once over.
Things to remember:
-Backpacks and purses are not allowed. Bring a document holder or something similar, but nothing more. To put it simple, just leave anything that you don't absolutely need, otherwise you could have headaches.
- Cell phones, key fobs or anything else that is electronic and can transmit is apparently not allo... read complete review

I stayed for two nights at the Courtyard by Mariott Downtown at the intersection of Bleury and Rene-Levesque. The 747 Airport bus drops you off immediately in front of the hotel – just make sure you get off at the closest Bleury stop as the hotel isn’t listed on the transit map. It was literally 1 block away from the consulate – it was no more than a three minute walk, if you hit a red light. I believe I paid about $186 USD from hotels.com. If you walk past the consulate, you’ll come across a Shoppers Drug Mart, as well as Saint Catherine’s St, so there’s tons of food and shopping options close to the hotel by foot. It was worth the premium given the prime location.
I arrived at the consulate for about 6:35, and was first in line. I was joined probably about ten minutes later by VJ user MattM (congratulations on your approval!), and people began lining up pretty quickly afterward. Several people had large bags, and were seemingly turned away from the door, so... read complete review

What a great day for an interview. Yesterday it poured rain but today is beautiful. I arrived at 9:15 for my 10:00 appointnebt and waited 2 minutes at the door, went in, was asked for my Loomis form and Interview letter and passport pictures and passport. There were 2 people behind me by then and I heard the gal at the door asking the first one for his Loomis forms -which he didn't have so he left to get them I guess. The next gal didn't have passport pictures so she then left to get them... hehe someone didn't read VJ!! *smirk*
I put my folder and watch through the scanner and walked through the body scanner, then was directed downstairs to the elevator.
Two others were in the elevator along with me on the ride to the 19th floor and neither knew the door would open at the back
The first call to a window was in less than 5 minutes, where they asked for my 2013 tax forms - I gave them the 3 newly completed AOS packages but she ... read complete review

My experience was WONDERFUL! I stressed for days before, sure that it would be a huge pain to get through the interview. I was in at 7:30, ten minutes before my appointment time, and was upstairs by 8AM. The lady at window 2 was very nice, professional, and she put my file together quickly. I took a seat, waited another twenty to thirty minutes to see the nice lady at booth seven. It was more like chatting with someone about my relationship rather than an interview, we laughed and she was very sweet. She approved my visa in less than five minutes, and we laughed some more when I teared up from joy! I was out of the building at 9AM, with a huge smile on my face. It could not have possibly been more pleasant!
