My fiance (beneficiary) and I (petitioner) went to the interview together. Our interview was at 7:40 am on 8/29/14 but Montreal is first come, first serve so the time means nothing! We got there at 7:15 am, there was no one else on line at the time but many people showed up shortly after. Around 7:45 a guard came down to open the door and let everyone in. When we got inside to the immediate left there was a woman that needed to see Canadian identification, the DS-160 barcode page, and the interview confirmation page. She also wanted to see my U.S. Passport.
We turned around and we were greeted by a guard who wanted to see both of our IDs, then he lead us to the metal detector. We knew we couldn't bring any bags, cell phones, or car keys with a remote so we had nothing in our pockets except IDs and money. We put those in the bin with the folder of interview stuff I brought and we went through. After that we were led into a vast waiting room with a lot of chairs, we walke... read complete review

Before I start my review, I just wanted to say thank you to Visajourney, and its members for the help.
My interview was set for September 30th, I booked it a month before and went ahead and booked all of the travel for my trip immediately.
I flew to Montreal from Toronto the day before the interview. I was able to find a flight with Westjet from Toronto Pearson to Montreal for $120, after arriving, I took the 737 bus from the Airport to Downtown Montreal, it costs $10 (you need to have 10 loonies on you), and the ticket is valid for 24hrs. I stayed at the Courtyard Marriot (the driver told me the stop was #4 Peele, but the hotel was a couple blocks down). I paid $220 with taxes for one night. I know it was expensive, but it was well worth it. The room was clean, new and comfortable, and you couldn't beat the location (3 minute walk from the consulate). The night before the interview I went for a walk to old town in Montreal, the old buildings were impress... read complete review

Interview was at 9:30. We arrived at 8:30. There was no line since we weren't there at the crack of dawn.
A very nice gentleman greeted us as well as a seated woman. The seated woman on the left asked for our Loomis confirmation page and my wife's passport, I think. I asked to go in with her and the security officer asked for my passport which I did not have or anticipate needing. I had my NEXUS card and he sighed heavily and let me in.
Went through security with no problems. You will have to take out everything, change included. Do NOT bring anything except your paperwork. No cell phones. They will confiscate them. I assume retrieving after would not be an issue but they won't let you in with large bags/purses/etc.
We went down the hall and up the elevator. Grabbed a number when we got to the right floor. We sat down. Waited about 15-20 minutes and got called to first window. Wife provided all paperwork as she was asked. Orig... read complete review

The consulate trip was very smooth and easy.
First we went to the Quiznos across the street and dropped our bags with them for $10 (each!) and then headed over. They weren't quite ready for us to come in because they were running behind, so asked us to wait about 15 minutes.
Once you're inside, security is pretty intense - like airport security on steroids. A guard accompanied us up the elevator to the floor where we did our interview!
You don't go into a room for your interview. You go to a bank wicket style thing. My fiance came up to the wicket with me, and he managed to attend my interview without any trouble. Because he was with me, the officer didn't even need any of our proof of relationship!
We were inthe consulate for about an hour.
