Left for Montreal on Monday, travelled to Toronto by bus, 4 hours. Stayed in a hotel and caught the train to Montreal on Tuesday. Got there no problems. Stayed at the Days Inn Downtown Montreal. They all speak english, friendly, funny and full of advice and directions. Huge room with sitting area and great water pressure in the shower. I didn't sleep very well since I was too thrilled that is was all happening finally.
Went to the consulate by 8 am my interview was for 9. Took a cab since it was so cold out. About 4 blocks from the days inn. 2 min cab ride. Gave the lady at the door, my passport, interview letter and DHL/ Loomis paperwork. Then she sent me to security, they took my coat, and paperwork and scanned me. Gave me back my coat and paperwork and said follow stairs to the elevator and go up. There was no line upjavascript:emoticon(' ') so i got a number, waited 5 mins, got out my medical, passport pics and police check and copies of everyth... read complete review

Follow the guides and you'll be fine! The officer I dealt with was friendly and had a a good sense of humor. Be prepared to meet other VJers who are after that same ticket as you

Took 2 hours at the consulate to get through from start to finish. Had all my documents readily available so I think it went very smoothly.

Sorry.. Meant to be more specific about which consulate and which VISA.. here's the review again.. with more details!
Had an appointment today, scheduled for 10am. I was staying on the North Shore so drove in. I actually parked at the Medisys (medical place) underground parking as I had to pick up my medical results and didn't really want to worry about parking again. I went upstairs, got my medical and walked to the Consulate. If you choose to do this, it's quite easy - walk down city councillor's about 4 blocks to Ste-Catherine's street, walk one block left to St-Alexandre and 1 block down to the building - less than 10 minutes.
Got to the Consulate at 9am. Was let right in after seeing the greeter who asked me for my appointment letter and passport. Went through security. Some people did have larger bags. One guy actually just had a small bag, big enough for his documents (basically what you would put your MacBook in) and they denied him. I only had documents, keys, w... read complete review

Hello all,
I had my interview yesterday, and as I have relied on reviews on VJ for information to help me navigate through the experience, I want to share mine with you. Sorry in advance that it is so long, but I wanted to include as much as possible so that maybe it will help someone else.
We had to spend 8 days in Montreal because both hubby and I are from the Midwest and to travel in twice did not make sense. We arrived in Montreal on Feb 2nd during a snow squall. I took the advice of a friend, and of others on VJ, and we went to the end of the arrivals area (after we got my bag). There was an info booth there where there were machines to buy bus passes. The man behind the booth showed me how to buy two bus passes with a week’s worth of time on them (the passes are re-loadable, which is awesome – I wish Winnipeg would do that!).
We took the 747 bus to stop #9 which was right across Blvd Rene-Levesque from our hotel, Holiday Inn and Suite... read complete review
