I had my interview on September 24, 2015 in Montreal.
My appointment was scheduled for 9:30am - I got there about 9:00 and they let me in at that time, went through security and up to the 19th floor with my number that they gave me at the door. I then proceeded to sit there until 1:00pm until I was called to the first window where they ask you to hand over your original documents and passport photos as well as your medical.
I was then asked to sit down where I waited until about 1:45pm to speak with the consular officer. (I found out during the day that the reason things were so delayed that day was because the day prior, they had to cancel a bunc of interviews and reschedule them to the next day) Everything went well until he started review our i-864. The issues is, my husband collects disability/wsib benefits from being hurt at work. NVC APPROVED completed our case with all evidence we submitted that he made well over the poverty guidelines to sponsor ... read complete review

SHORT VERSION (more details in Long Version, below!)
My appointment was at 8:30. I got there a few minutes early. There were two security checks. A preliminary outside the building telling you what you can't bring and checking you briefly (no patdowns, just asking if you have stuff on you and asking to see certain things), and then a second check inside very much like airport security, complete with metal detector and a tray to xray your belongings.
Then you get escorted into an elevator with an officer and get shuttled to floor 20, where the waiting rooms and booths are. Booth B is the one with the light switch. I was expecting a room, but it was fairly open. Like, DMV-esque, I guess?
They took only a few papers (the essentials, police record, birth certificate, and proof of finances, along with the DS-160 confirmation printout) and asked I keep the rest if needed for the interview. He gave me a number and I sat down. Then I waited for a good whil... read complete review

We had a hard time figuring parking the hotel has a way you drive down below the hotel and it cost 22 bucks . We had a hotel 5 blocks away and saw it hard to park around the area so we walked to it . Appointment was at 8am we got there at 7am only two other people there before us . then others came and keep wanting to get in our spots where we were. lots of them did. not rude or anything just pushing in your spots. The men wanted us to back against the wall so they can put a line thing like we have in stores to line up and people wouldn't do it very easliy. . We were asked who had letters for appt.l we got our spot back. they ask for courier confirmation (which is where to mail your passport -you go on-line for to specific which you want. (we didnt know how to do , to your address it only has which city is close to you ) We had a bag with our document... read complete review

The appointment was at 7:40 am. We (the petitioner and I) arrived shortly after 7:00 am and it looked like there were 4 people ahead of us.
Around 7:30 the security guys came out to put the tinsel barriers up and the guy in the shirt marked CSC started reviewing documents for the people ahead of us.
The second person in line was turned away due to his backpack (he was told to either bring it to his hotel room or rent a locker at the Eaton Center)
When he got to us, he asked to see the DS-160 and made sure that we had signed up for the Loomis pickup. He then gave us card #3 and let us in.
The metal detector was fine, they asked us to remove one of those musical greeting cards from our proof papers and leave it with the rest of our personal effects (keys, fiancee's Apple Watch). We were then told to go downstairs and wait.
We waited in the room downstairs for around 10 minutes, then the security guards cam down and started herding people towards the... read complete review

I received my 1R-1 visa today at my interview!! All I can say is this website totally had me prepared so listen to EVERYTHING you read here about preparing for your interview. Here are the highlights to note:
- do not arrive more than 30 minutes before your scheduled interview time
- Do not bring ANY electronics with you into the consulate
- I stayed a the Travelodge Hotel ($101 plus $20 for underground parking at the hotel) plus I walked to my appointment (three blocks away: 5 minute walk)
- I arrived at 8:30am at the consulate (my appointment was at 9am) I was first seen at 10am to hand over my documents (this took 10 minutes and my husband USC was with me)
- Make sure you have: Current police report as they expire after one year, Certified/original copies of both divorce decrees, original birth certificate of person being interviewed, original marriage certificate. I did not need the original birth certificate of the my spouse (USC), 2 pass... read complete review
