I had my interview on September 24, 2015 in Montreal.
My appointment was scheduled for 9:30am - I got there about 9:00 and they let me in at that time, went through security and up to the 19th floor with my number that they gave me at the door. I then proceeded to sit there until 1:00pm until I was called to the first window where they ask you to hand over your original documents and passport photos as well as your medical.
I was then asked to sit down where I waited until about 1:45pm to speak with the consular officer. (I found out during the day that the reason things were so delayed that day was because the day prior, they had to cancel a bunc of interviews and reschedule them to the next day) Everything went well until he started review our i-864. The issues is, my husband collects disability/wsib benefits from being hurt at work. NVC APPROVED completed our case with all evidence we submitted that he made well over the poverty guidelines to sponsor me. The consular officer would ONLY take into the consideration of his disability benefits which made my husband under the poverty guideline. He handed me a 221G for a joint-sponsor and stated to me that once I can get this sent it - I will be granted my visa. They kept my passport for that reason.
I am now waiting on the package from the U.S from our joint-sponsor which I then have to drive 2 hours to send it in to the Consulate.
I feel like NVC dropped the ball on this, after they repeatedly told me that his income would NOT be an issue. After I had so much documentation of his cheque numbers, proof of income, statements from disability and wsib.
