Arrived at 7:15 and there were four people already waiting. My interview was scheduled for 8:00, but I had my three month old baby with me so wanted to be in and out quickly. I had a small canvas bag with me, small enough it could be rolled up and put in my sweater pocket. It contained my papers, diapers and credit card/change. I was checked in by a friendly man at the door a little after 7:30. As I entered the building an overweight security guard blocked me and said I wasn't allowed inside with my "backpack". I told him it was just a canvas diaper bag with two straps since I have my baby, and the instructions said a small diaper bag was ok. I had my son in an Ergo carrier which I could stick into the bag if I needed. He said NO BAGS at all were allowed except plastic grocery bags. I pulled up my email and he said he didn't care and began to speak over me without letting me talk. The guy who checked me in looked a bit embarrassed. I told him it's just a cheap bag for the occasion so I... read complete review

Summary of Interview Experience
Arrived 10 minutes early of our 7:40 Appointment via Taxi. There was a small line of around 15 people. At roughly 7:40 the line began to move and we were asked to present our confirmation page of the DS-160. They confirmed our appointment and let is in for security check. On our way in we were handed a laminated number (number 9) to be called for our paperwork and interview.
At security we were asked to leave our cell phone we had brought and were presented a ticket to pick it up on our way out.
We then waited in a small waiting room in the basement near an elevator. After about 15 minutes we were instructed by a security officer to go up the elevator to the 19th floor.
This was the waiting room for the actual Interview. We shared the room with folks there for non-immigrant visas. We were instructed to sit in the middle row and waited for roughly 2 hours.
After 2 hours we were ca... read complete review

Coming from the west coast - I have to complain that it really does not make sense to have us travelling 10 hours over a two day period for a 1 hour interview. Interview itself went basically like most of the other interview reviews for the Montreal Consulate. If you get there early and line up - you will get through it quickly. Make sure you print every piece of paper that the NVC and Consulate send you. I saw many people who were denied because they didnt have the right paperwork. The officer let me know that if I did participate in the online blogs to stress the importance of telling other IR1 Visa petitioners - domicile and the affidavit of support are the key. If your spouse has a place and a job in the US and is above the poverty guidelines - you wont have a problem.

i had my interview at 8:00 AM yesterday... Luckily i have family in BC .. so i had a place to stay. i took the sky train the burrard station that morning and showed up to consulate 10 mins before my appointment. There was a line up on the right side of the building outiside. When i got there security asked to see my DS-160/passport/ passport photos. I brought my phone, but lucky enough they have FREE lockers for SMALL stuff outside. So make sure that you don't bring a big purse. only wallet/ phone and documents. i waited in line for about 15 mins then the security officer called me forward and looked thru my wallet and documents to make sure i wasn't hiding anything. After that another officer led thru the airport like security and after that ANOTHER officer led me up to the 20th floor. the whole time they are giving you instructions. once i got up to the 20th floor i was instructed to go to window B and flip the switch. the guy there took all my documents on the list ( besides divorc... read complete review
