Overall this was a very good experience and was super easy as others have said. We arrived about 30 minutes before our scheduled time and were allowed in. Dropped cell phone off downstairs, went thru security and then led upstairs and sat in the middle section as instructed. The view over Montreal from the 19th floor is stunning. When sitting in the middle section you'll notice the group to your left being shuffled around to different chairs and called up in groups which is mildly entertaining for some unknown reason We waited about 15 min to be called to window 2 which was still before our scheduled time. The clerk asked for forms including the updated tax forms. All I brought for taxes was the 2015 info as they already had the 2014 and that was completely acceptable. They took Jason's fingerprints then we sat back down. I went and fumbled with the soda/snack machine for a bit but to no avail. About 25 minutes later Jason got called back for the interview, it laste... read complete review

Interview Date: April 4th, 2016 at 10:00am

Like many others we stayed at the Courtyard Marriott right across the street. Super clean, and comfortable, free wifi and has the option of room service. It was also convenient for my husband to walk to the Medisys office to pick up his medical packet the day of the interview. (10 minute walk).

We woke up at 6 am to begin getting ready for the day, at 6:45 my Husband went to go pick up his medical (they opened at 7:00 am). While I stayed at the Hotel to Iron his clothes and get ready (yes as a lady it took me longer to put myself together lol).

He arrived back at the room around 7:30am. We finished getting ready, packing all of our things, and then at 8:30 am we went downstairs, put our bags in the car in the garage (Parking was an extra $25, but was valid until 3pm the day of interview.) And we checked out of the Hotel. From the lobby we walked across the street and down the road to the Consulate... read complete review

My interview was in mid-February in Montreal. The medical and interview were exactly a week apart. I pushed the mandatory 3 business days between medical/interview to 4 and spent the days between the medical and interview in the US visiting my fiance over the weekend.

The medical was thorough, very organized and proficient. My appointment was at 9:30am and I was out by 11. I had the interview on a Wednesday morning - I flew to MTL early AM, got a cab downtown to Medsys ($40 flat rate to DT) and a cab back to the airport. I was only in Montreal as a stopover, as I mentioned above. The timeline worked great actually. I spent the weekend with my fiance and flew back to MTL on a redeye flight Monday night - got another cab DT to pick up my medical results from Medsys on Tuesday and stayed in the Renaissance Hotel 2 blocks from the embassy that night. Very convenient and a beautiful hotel! The staff were incredibly accommodating. This is not a budget hotel however!

The US needs to put an interview location and approved medical facility in Halifax. This was a ridiculously long and abusive trip for us and our newborn. Montreal is a nice city... but not in March. We ended up in a ditch off the icy highway on the way there - no damage done - but this was really hard for us.

The Montreal consulate is... fine. Interview process will never be a pleasurable process, so always go in with low expectations.

On arrival, people are expected to wait outside in the cold until they clear current occupants through security. Then they check you at the door and let you in to the security room.

Basically you are not allowed to bring anything in but paperwork and the clothes on your back, and they won't hold anything for you. You will go through metal detectors and security (guards were surprisingly friendly) and head on up the elevators to the interview hall.

Directions are extremely poor and the clerk by t... read complete review

(very detailed)
I had my interview yesterday. It was set for 10:30am but I showed up at 9am and was let in right away after showing my passport and interview letter. A woman with a tablet checked me in and gave me a laminated paper with a number and some text on it. The lobby is quite small and they try and pack you in together as close as possible. I only brought a file folder and my phone with me as I knew they don’t allow bags. The main door guy was kind of brisk and a tad rude to some people with bags but gave them instructions on what place nearby has storage lockers. I imagine he was sort of rude because he gets the brunt of peoples frustration due to the no bag rule. I knew I’d have to check my phone with them so I shut it off as soon as I walked in. If you bring a phone remember to get a ticket stub from them when you check it, and don’t lose it! There was a couple that had major problems claiming their phone and keys because they said they never got a ticket. I do... read complete review
