The consulate is in Rio, not Brsilia. Our interview was in Rio on May 12. I attended with my fiance. We were there early and first in line with documents but it turned into an all day affair. There were about 18 people there for interviews. We were called in about 6th. I joined my fiance in the interview room, no problem. The officer asked if I was the petitioner. We were both sworn in. To our great surprise the officer asked no question of my fiance. And asked just 2 of me. He was very polite and professional. I stupidly left out my tax return. He said that if I could retrieve it yet that day he could make a determination. We shot over to an internet cafe and I retrieved it online. We were back at the consulate in less than 30 minutes. The guard at the consulate was not going to let us back in! We explained the situation but she said no, that we would have to make another appointment. This was not feasible. I showed her my passport and she shook her head. I then said that I was and Am... read complete review

Update:
We got the visa today (the day after the interview). Normally you have to wait 2 days, but we asked if we could get it sooner and they were able to do it for us!!

As Carol said her review...the interviewer was very polite and wanted to hear the story of how we met and how we developed our relationship. He did not ask to see any proof (I don't know if my being there with Paula made a difference - probably), but he just wanted to hear about how we fell in love. Be prepared to talk about your relationship at length (5-10 minutes). Prove to him that the two of you know and love each other.

Have all your paperwork ready...have all the copies that you need...and be prepared to talk about your relationship.

Here is the list of required documents and the order that they want them:
1. Two front view photos (name printed behind)
2. Passport
3. Citibank fee
4. 2 Forms DS-156
5. Fo... read complete review

We went to the consulate today and arrived early, about 7:30AM and we did not get our interview until about 1:30PM...a long time to wait.

1st we had to arrange our papers (they give you a list of the order they want everything in) and then you wait to be called for the interview).

I went in with Paula and the consulate officer spoke Portuguese and English. Paula signed the paperwork in front of him and had her fingerprints digitally taken. He asked two questions...how did we meet, and a question about her tourist visa denial in February. It was very easy.

The visa is supposed to be ready in 2 days...but we asked if we could get it the next day and he said they would try.

Make sure all you paperwork is in order and you have copies of everything...we had no problems. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars is because of the wait.
