Review Topic: K1 Visa

Update:
We got the visa today (the day after the interview). Normally you have to wait 2 days, but we asked if we could get it sooner and they were able to do it for us!!

As Carol said her review...the interviewer was very polite and wanted to hear the story of how we met and how we developed our relationship. He did not ask to see any proof (I don't know if my being there with Paula made a difference - probably), but he just wanted to hear about how we fell in love. Be prepared to talk about your relationship at length (5-10 minutes). Prove to him that the two of you know and love each other.

Have all your paperwork ready...have all the copies that you need...and be prepared to talk about your relationship.

Here is the list of required documents and the order that they want them:
1. Two front view photos (name printed behind)
2. Passport
3. Citibank fee
4. 2 Forms DS-156
5. Form DS-156K
6. Form DS-157 (for those over 14yrs)
7. Form FS-257a
8. Sworn statement (provided in the visa packet from the consulate)
9. Birth certificate and copy
10. Marriage certificate and copy (if applicable)
11. Divorce decree and copy (if applicable)
12. Death certificate and copy (if applicable)
13. Military Service and copy (if applicable)
14. Police Certficate and copy (Secretaria de Segurança Pública)
15. Police Certificate and copy (Polícia Federal)
16. Police Certficate from other countries (if applicable)
17. Medical Exam (sealed)
18. Affidavit of Support
-Form I-134
-Last federal income tax
-proof of citizenship or greencard

It is better to have too much info (last 3 year's tax returns, proof of being together, paystubs, etc.) than not to have it if he asks.

In 3 days we will be together in the US in our new apartment !!

5 stars for them getting us our visa 1 day earlier than normal!!
