  1. Do you feel ashamed about the fact that your insistence on calling your congressman and getting your file "pulled" means (assuming it actually had an effect) that you basically slowed down the processing times of the rest of us who are waiting for our loved ones? Essentially what you're telling us is that you cut in line.

I've been waiting 208 days... which means I filed almost two weeks before you, yet yours got processed first. If that's just random chance, then that's life, but if it's because you felt your case was more important than ours, then I find that pretty offensive. You don't love your spouse more than we love our spouses.

You really want to get pissy with someone who waited just a hair bit less time than you when dozens of people are getting processed in a matter of a couple of weeks or no more than a month? I started hammering my people (congressmen and senators) and going to USCIS the day after it ticked past 150 days.

Should I feel bad that my people are, for whatever reason, more effective than others?

    No, I shouldn't.

Do I feel bad that you, and others, are still waiting?

Damned right I do. Just yesterday I told my wife that I feel bad for everyone still waiting.

But, I can't do anything about that. What I suggest you do is pour your anger and angst into hammering your people for results. It may be far more productive and will certainly make more sense. Please remember, these people work for us.

  2. I talked to a very nice man at the NVC today and got my case number and IIN. Also gave him our e-mail addresses. It's so nice to feel like something is actually happening with our case! :D

Hahaha.. now you're ahead of me.. I'm still waiting for my IIN and AOS bill :(

    Grrrr....

"We're sorry sir, we just entered this case and nothing is available yet." :(

I'm starting to wonder if my quick conversion to EP is causing a delay....

  3. I'll email them, thanks for the support everyone.

I thought the day I get the missing Turkish pcc would be the day the worries would go away. I should've been counting on those bureaucrats typing with 2 fingers on their keyboard...

It is the fervent belief of some that the purpose of Governments and those who work in them is for the betterment of mankind; to faithfully serve and carry out their duties in an expeditious manner without error. That it is a noble enterprise worthy of both expansion and reverence. The cosmic irony is that reality is nearly the polar opposite. :)

  4. The problem is that the consulate is just a proxy, the document was made in Turkey and signed there by a judge. I'm going back tomorrow to order a replacement, but it's going to take around 2 months again, and I won't have it in time for the interview.

So what they finally offered was to correct the mistake by hand and sign and put the consulate stamp next to the correction. I guess it's the best thing I can have right now...

Still gonna request a new one but at least I'll have something in my hands for the interview.

Speaking in general for other US Government stuff, correcting a minor error with a strike through and initials (stamp in this case) isn't unusual and usually accepted. I imagine you can email the US consulate and ask them if it is okay, assuming you haven't already. :)

  5. FWIW to you, I had the same dilemma on whether or not to send relationship evidence to the NVC so I started a thread on CFL about it and based on the replies that I received, I decided to only send what the NVC asked for. Nothing more, nothing less.

The NVC operators only know that the file is in the building, they will not know the specific contents of the file.

In the end, it is your call whether or not you wish to submit relationship evidence to the NVC.

If what I submitted before actually makes it all the way to GUZ, I think we'll be fine. I had never really considered the possibility that USCIS might do something mindnumbingly stupid like just forward the minimum and drop all the evidence out. It turns out that after printing everything off I rescanned it into master PDFs. I had forgotten having done that before. What I'm pondering doing is attaching the master evidence PDF as a backup. It's right at the 10MB limit.

On the subject of more, I'm not sure it would be necessary. Prior to the creation of the initial package I had been over there six times and that was all documented in the initial package. Pictures, stories and all that. I can't imagine the VO, having read all that, would reject us because there was nothing in there from the last two trips. Especially not with my passport positively stacked with stamps in their hand and me down stairs for trip number nine.

  6. Okay, thanks. I was just wondering because I hadn't seen paperwork like that mentioned before. It's purpose makes total sense though :)

My Senators (who were useless) required such a form. My Representative's staff, who got the job done, didn't.

To anyone else still waiting, at this point you're almost certainly going to have to hammer your Senator's and/or Representative's staff every day. After all, they do work for you. :)

  7. Well.. now I don't know what to do... I decided to call NVC and see if maybe they could give some indication whether some, or any, of the evidence got to them... and I don't know if i just got a clueless operator or what.. but she was indicating that none of the evidence would have gone to them (because they don't adjudicate or request relationship evidence)... so either it all got there.. or none of it did (in which case I'm back to square one)....

    :(

  8. GUZ IV is one hard sumb|tch - this is mentioned often, not just by me. I say add more at DS-230 time. Have a read? http://www.visajourn...ost__p__4100571

    Good Luck !

Call once a day about it , circa 3:30 to 4:30 PM EST, until you DO have it in yer email box. Ask Specifically - Please send me the AOS FEE BILL via email to my email address .

Damn man.. after reading that I'm all nervous. As I mentioned earlier, I sent in 230+ pages of evidence. One of those was a 21 page 'photo essay', for lack of a better term, to back up our EOR letter. It weighs in at 61MB and I'm not entirely sure it would be possible to make it any smaller to fit in their tiny little 10MB attachment limit... nevermind the rest of the 230 pages of evidence... :(

  9. ni zhi dao 'SAFEFILE' ma :D

woo hoo ! gzo numbers rock! yay!

rather than 'cough up' the IIN via telephone - push, instead, to have the AOS fee bill emailed out to you.

That's a big valve opening, really - as once you have it in yer email inbox? NVC is officially turned on for 'looking for files' and 'looking for payments'.

It's not enough to have the IIN.

Whilst yer waiting - read all of this one? -> DJ Walker - http://www.visajourn...1451-uscis-nvc/

If I start asking them for the AOS Fee bill on the phone, will they generate it? When I called them earlier they were just saying things like 'we just got the case yesterday' and 'please wait 10 days' blah blah blah.

  10. My friends, I just got a phone call from the Turkish consulate and MY TURKISH POLICE CLEARANCE HAS ARRIVED!!! :jest::dance:  :dancing: :dancing: :jest: :jest: :content::energy:

The last reason to worry is going away and I'd be shouting my joy at the window if it wasn't 20°F and I wasn't sick with a bad cold and in bed!!!

They even told me on the phone that it's multi-lingual, so I don't even need to have it translated. I'm gonna go get it tomorrow morning!

And then, throughout the land of SoandSo, there went up a great cry of rejoicing and jubilation...

    Congrats :D
