  1. Photos don't matter as much to them. Stamps in your passports matter more. (Include the entire passport... I photocopied my entire one, including the front and back covers!)

Also, when you say you included "airline tickets"... were they boarding passes or just printed e-Tickets or printed itineraries? Anyone can buy a ticket somewhere and print out the itinerary or ticket without having boarded the plane. Try actual boarding passes if you haven't.

  2. Personally, I wouldn't stress about 'proof of relationship' yet. The I-129F petition only requires proof that you've MET face to face in the last two years. The proof of relationship is needed at the Interview level.

My advice? Send in the I-129F when you can, and while you wait the five (maybe six?) months for it's approval, then keep a record of everything relationship related during that time.

  3. I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that in 2 1/2 years that a person can only make ONE mistake in a relationship. I think both sides make mistakes all the time, whether they know about it or not. I'm sorry, but saying that there was 'only one mistake in the entire relationship' doesn't sound at all accurate to me. It kind of sounds like blame shifting to me. Now I'm not saying it's 'all Al's fault', but I am not saying it's all Elena's fault either. I'm sure both parties had a part to play, as this is how it goes with every relationship.

Also, professing love for someone, and then bashing that person to the ground... I don't understand that. I don't understand how anyone who truly LOVES another can do a complete 180 on them in that amount of time.

I don't wish ill on anyone here though, and that include Al. I do hope he finds the person he's looking for and finds ways to improve his life and himself along the way. (Everyone can use improvement!!)

  4. Yea, the Sydney Consulate is very nice when it comes to working with ya. He's got a trip planned to NZ soon, and he wrote them, asking if he can have his passport back on time for that. They said to just include a letter for it, and he should get it back in time.

They were quick about the reply, too. :)

  5. SUCCESS! Sydney emailed us today saying (paraphrase) "You can send your passport now. We got the NZ Police Check back."

It wasn't even the one Sydney mailed to Auckland either. It was the one that my guy had given to the NZ Police directly cause they hadn't received the one from Sydney! That's twice now that our 'visa journey' would have been longer had we not been proactive about it. :) I'm proud of us.

  6. I love how people think of me now. :)

It's worth a shot. You'd only be out the postage if they don't accept them or match them up! :P

And I agree.... people should get everything complete and send it in. I got REALLY lucky with mine. REALLY, REALLY lucky.

  7. Congrats Dave and Shannon! :D

So, Sydney Consulate was telling us "We go through the Auckland Embassy"... so what did I do? I emailed the Auckland Embassy. They emailed me the form and asked him to fill it out. He did that. Then he got a reply that the completed police check from the NZ Police today and that it's being sent to Sydney by Close of Business today. I had him talk to the Police HQ on April 5th, and he apparently faxed over a new authorization form then. The one from Sydney never made it... but the Police Check was complleted based on the one he faxed over! Woo!

Yay for having it done! But boo for the one never making it from Sydney! :P

  8. Well... NZ Police check isn't back yet. It was received by the Consulate on March 11th. However, both the NZ Police HQ and Ministry of Justice have both confirmed there is no police check for anyone with his last name. At all.

Emails to the Consulate are met with "our procedures are different and we operate through the US Embassy Auckland." That's it.

Is it supposed to take a month? :(
