  1. I'm just curious as to what their going rate is for approvals per day. I mean, I'm sure they have a TON of petitions, and each one will take a little time, but how many people are working on them? How many do they get through in a day? I'm hoping they are increasing staffing to get through these.

I'm sure they don't TRY to make us wait forever, but it sure sucks that's kind of what happens. :(

  2. Yea, I called. First time, I tried to give the level 1 lady a shot... But I called back a second time and just straight asked for an Immigration Officer. She said that she "can't promise" my petition won't be outright rejected, she said "most of the time, we just ask for more information." I had to clarify... "You do know I sent in just this one form and the fee." She told me that if I didn't hear anything within the month, to call back. So... either right before Christmas, or just after New Year's, I'll be calling back if I don't hear anything.

I'm hoping that the "if you don't hear anything within a month..." thing means they are pounding through cases faster these days... But still, I'm still unsure if my petition will be completely rejected for lack of evidence.

I am not a patient person by nature, but having it hang over my head that it might be denied cause of my own stupidity... it doesn't help. If I knew "You WILL hear from us before this date", then I'd be better off. I'm really hoping they are moving cases along faster than previously. :(

  3. Thanks for the head's up, guys! I think I'm going to have him start on the medical stuff now. You don't need to have your NOA2 to get started on that, do you? The reason why I want him to start early is because he has a heart condition and will probably have to be referred to a cardiologist for it. I know that'll take more time, so if he starts now, he'll be sure to have it all done and reported before the interview. Right?

  4. Hi all! Just saying hi in the regional forum while I wait for some word from USCIS.

Oh! I do have a question though. My fiance in Australia started working on a work visa to move over.. but is now working on a K-1 visa. He got his police checks from Australia and New Zealand a couple months ago. Will he have to repeat these? Or how long are they valid for? Just wondering!

And woot.. met on Wow here, too!

  5. We are touchy, sensitive, and even crazy because we are in love and been separated with our dear ones and separated not because of our good will. I know it's the process and it should be a fair process but i feel like a prisoner because all I am aloud to do is to think.

Yea, I'm in the same boat. I just figure that when things are so down for me, the best thing I can do is reach out to encouraging groups of people that share my experiences... I find that when I get wrapped up in snarky groups (not saying anyone in particular, this is a general statement!), it makes the situation worse for me.

I'll just be here, handing out guys Kleenex when we all break down over the holidays because we miss our loved ones. :)

  6. So, I know this sounds like a stupid question... but I want to make sure I give enough evidence of the ongoing relationship once they ask me for it. We are constantly talking online with each other. There are about two years of logs! So how much of this should I include? Just bits and pieces?

Also, there are some bits in there that are ... well, sexy. I mean, not outright explicit or anything. I'm betting that any pages that show us being a couple might include a reference or two. Should I edit this out? I don't want to really edit it, because then I feel it's not being honest... I'd probably be hard pressed to find a bunch of chunks of time where we make no sexy references at all!

What are your thoughts? (No, I'm not going to send them cyber conversations! Just not sure what's okay in terms of referencing...) :P I feel so stupid asking this!

  7. Is anyone taking into account that some of the cases that take longer than 5 months might be the ones that need more evidence or have troubles on the forms?

Some take longer. Some take shorter. I think we can all agree on that. Each case is different with a different set of hurdles to overcome.

I just don't see why everyone is so touchy here. I mean, we're all in the same boat: Dealing with a horrible process and missing our loved ones in the meantime. Not knowing, especially when it comes to how long you'll be missing your fiance, is HELL for everyone! So why are people getting upset at other people? If anything, VJ.com forums are my only means of support since you can all relate to the same things I'm going through!

...(Can't we all just get along?) :)
