  1. Do they have to be on photo paper. or can we just print them directly onto paper with the details on the side?

after all this is the digital age right?

What I did on our photos (printed on photo paper) for my upcoming interview is paste them on a short bondpaper with a black paper backgound before pasting them on the bondpaper and printed suff for the captions to be pasted on it and I made some art on it. It's like scrapbooking but I didnt over do it though.. After pasting the pics and the captions and after making designs, I put them on a black short clearbook, that clearbook is just the pics which I categorized based on the vacation trips we had (eg, December 2009 Vacation, September 2010 Vacation, June 2011 Vacation).

    Good luck.

  2. @tonylovesam thank you for your idea...i've heard already to other people that since i didnt fill up for 2go courier, they know already where they will send my visa and yes were just waiting for the crba and US passport of my son since they did not require us for dna test anymore and we already paid for the 2go courier for delivery. My k1 interview was fine and did not ask for anything. They only need the approval of my childs crba then submit it to them thru 2go courier....how long does it take to receive the crba and us passport?

wow ur son's crba and passport application were too easy for you to get cos they didnt require dna test in which in most cases will require.

on my case, since we were required to do the dna, it took us 5months to finally had the crba and passport on hand.

so, I think, on your case, it will be less than a month (maybe a week or two) to receive the crba and passport through a courrier.

CONGRATULATIONS I've found that you and your son's journey were too quick and easy! I'm happy for you! Keep going on your next step, good luck and God bless! :)

Take a look at my signature for my K1 updates..lol :)

  3. I really need information to anybody here.

I am from Cebu, Philippines. Anybody from that place?

Anyway, we are planning on getting a visa but don't know what type. I am confuse. I am married to a US Citizen. He is not a permanent resident here in the Philippines. I heard that you can file IR1 if your husband is a permanent resident in the Philippines. Is that true? We have 2 kids and what type of visa for them to get? We've been married for 6 years now.

If we file the IR1, what form are we going to fill up? And what form for our boys we are going to fill up? And if it is a K3 what forms also we are going to fill up?

Thanks in advance. You're ideas is appreciated

You have 2 options for your visa I think: K3 or IR1, petition form for that is the I-130 which will be filled up by your USC husband.

For your kids, THEY ARE ELIGIBLE FOR CITIZENSHIP!!! through ur USC husband.:)

Just apply for CRBA (if born here in the PI) and a US passport for them. If the consul approves their application, ofcourse the CRBAs and passports for your 2 sons will be issued, no need a visa. :)

  4. hi is there anybody here who did not fill up a 2go form after your interview?Well, i had my interview this week and my k1 was approved but then they want me to submit the approval of my sons CRBA before they will issue my visa. so when i got to the final window and instruction,he only give me a form 221g and the form of 2go where i will be listing the document that i'll be submitting thats all. he did not even give me a paper where to send my visa but they keep my passport. can you give some idea on how will they send my visa?thank you

I think since you will be submitting additional documents to the embassy like CRBA, the embassy will know your address (they knew that already though when u applied for the k1) by sending the docs through a courrier in which ur address will be written on it as the sender, right?

For peace of mind, call the embassy.

  5. you have to get married in 90 days the date issue in the visa,

I'm sorry to tell you that this is not correct info... :( k1 visa is valid for 6 months from the date it is issued. that means, you have 6 months to travel to the US but if you cant travel to the US within that 6months time frame, ur k1 is no longer valid unless you request for an extension... but if you can travel to the US within 6months, you have that 90 days period to marry the petitioner from the date of your POE. If you fail to marry within 90 days, you will be out of status and cost problems..

Any members can correct me if Im wrong.

  6. I have a question about fellow service members who have filled out an I-134.

What did you put for 7. Which asks for the following.

    - Type of Business

    - Address

I am in the Army, do I just put my unit address here?

    Thank you

what we did is this :

engaged in the business of - *position in the army*

    with - United States Army

For the address, yes ur unit address should be in it. Good luck.

Also, in the I intend or do not intend to provide contributions portion, would that be yes or no. We will be married and she will be living with me, is that just assumed, or do I need to write that in.

we just followed the example form provided by VJ : N/A KI VISA PROCESS FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE

Also, in the I intend or do not intend to provide contributions portion, would that be yes or no. We will be married and she will be living with me, is that just assumed, or do I need to write that in.

We didnt click intend or do not intend box, we just type that statement above in the space provided on the form. Goodluck.

  7. This looks like a good deal, $15 a month for a US number for your Globe phone.

Has anyone been using this and how do you like it?

    Globe Super US Direct

I prefer to register to ITXT (international text) as I always do to communicate with my fiance. It's only Php 50 for 100 text messages that would expire in 10 days. I like texting more that's why. He also calls me though everyday and every night and I can call him anytime for FREE though using gmail. :)

  8. The problem with this process is that it builds a lot of paranoia and its so unhealthy. I was a victim of this!! To be honest, I could not enjoy the first few months of my marriage fully because we were too worried with my AOS. It's not good, it shouldn't be like that. There are too many what if's in life, and although I think its good that you should be covering all bases, I think that you should still hope for the best and not worry too much about something that hasn't happened (and might not even happen). If you do get a sputum test, it will suck, but it won't be the end of the world, and it's just something you'll have to deal with.. It's just another hurdle but it won't be the end of the world. :) Your plan is fine (Doing medical August, interview Sept or doing both in Sept.. I did everything in two weeks!) and no you can't proceed with your interview if you get the dreaded sputum test. As far as I know they will cancel and reschedule it for you...For now, just plan things like you would if you passed the medical. If you don't pass, then just have some extra money on hand because you'll need to stay there for three days and then go back after two months I think? I am sure it will all work out for you. :) Goodluck and God bless!!! :) For now, just make sure you are already gathering stuff needed like NBI clearance, BC, Cenomar, Passport that has 6 months or more validity and try to get a copy of your vaccine records if you can.. That way once you have your noa2, it will be smooth-sailing :)

Btw, all my docs for the medical and interview are ready now. :) And my case was already sent by the NVC to Manila US consulate. :)

Thank you messybrownhair (Steph, I guess...)! :) Maybe I was just too paranoid about all of this stuff, I should have faith like what you said and like what my fiance always told me... God bless you too and good luck with the rest of your immigration nthing. Thank you. :)

  10. In my case I have to really wait for my interview appointment date because me & my hubby needs my visa to be valid 'til December for some personal reason. And since I came from Mindanao I decided to take the medical exam 5 days before my interview date, with God's grace I passed the medical exam and was able to proceed to my interview. Now I have posted the same question before, "what if I have to do sputum test?". The reply that I got says that I can't get to my interview then until I passed the medical exam and St. Luke's will reschedule my interview. Most applicant here on VJ do advance medical exam the moment they have their NOA2, I think that's the best way to go if you don't have other things to consider. If you want to have accurate answers I suggest that you call or e-mail SLEC. Goodluck.

Thank you. Btw, I'm from Mindanao too-Iligan. :)

As far as I know, if you have to do sputum or anything that has something to do with your medical (providing that you won't be cleared before your interview), SLEC will rescheduled your interview. USEM won't let you have your interview without passing the medical.

Thank you for this helpful answer. :)

  11. I guess US em said that the medical should be done prior to the interview... is that correct?

    What if...

there is something wrong with the medical results? Like for example they found out that I have to do sputum test, culture test, etc...

Is that mean I will have to cancel my scheduled interview because I still have to wait for the medical to be completely done (culture test results will be released within 2 months)?

I'm just wondering because I'm not from Manila and I dont want to make a lot of trips coming to Manila if there is something wrong with my medical.. My plan is to do the Medical towards the middle of August and do the interview towards the middle of September... do you think it's okay?? Or what if I do both medical and interview by September and they found out that there is something wrong with my medical... can I still proceed with my scheduled interview date even if I still have to go back to SLEC later?? I'm completely unsure of this stuff.. need your :help: please...

    Lot of thanks! :)

  12. me and my son had our medical last June 22.on the 2nd day i found out i have to undergo sputum test.. my son passed the medical (thank God). i started my sputum test last 28-29-30. of 4th day i got my smear result its NEGATIVE !! thank you Lord Jesus. now i'm waiting for my culture test ..its 2 dreaded months to wait.SLEC scheduled me to call on august 28 for the result. i wish i don't get call from them...because if they are the one give a call means something is wrong.. it's kinda scary every time my phone rang.:wacko:

i miss my fiance so much. :( :( i hope and pray i will get negative result for my culture test. God be with us..

Hi. Is that mean you will cancel your interview date because ur not completely done with your medical yet? I mean, because you still have to wait 2 months to get the result of the culture test? Because I thought US em said that the medical should be done prior to the interview... is that correct?

I'm just wondering because I'm not from Manila and I dont want to make a lot of trips coming to Manila if there is something wrong with my medical.. 13. I'm stuck, I'm not sure what i should put down on question 32

Do you intend to work in the US? YES OR NO.

I intend to do so, but i don't have employment waiting for me.

    what should i put?

I just filledup that form today I clicked yes and this is what I wrote "Will apply for work authorization, employer is unknown yet."

And to the question if I intend to study in the US, I clicked yes and wrote "School name and address is unknown yet as me and my fiance have not made any specific plans yet regarding this.":)

  14. It's my 3rd week waiting for the NVC letter. I'm just dying to get my hands on it.

I'm gonna end up calling the NVC (i live in the philippines) but I just want to know

how long it's supposed to take?

i see people's timeline.... it's only a matter of days....

Fiance is currently under deployment...isn't due back in SD till September!

waiting a few more days before making that call!

I (the beneficiary) started chasing NVC for the case number 2 weeks from my NOA2 approval date til this 1st week of July where I finally got our case number. I made a lot of phone calls thru gmail (cos its free, calling a US number from the PI) and I made a lot of emails to NVCInquiry@state.gov and NVCResearch@state.gov to inquire about the status of our case. My fiance is unable to make phone calls to immigration thing because he's on deployment too that's why.

I suggest you call NVC now if ur NOA2 date is 2 weeks old already, don't stop til they give u ur case number. That is what I did. I've read that as long as you have the case number (even if u dont have the actual letter from the NVC), you can now proceed with the next step which is to pay the visa fee, schedule appointment, and do the medical prior to the interview date.

    Good luck.

  15. I find the question SILLY! It is logic, that whatever interview you're going to, you should dress to match the seriouness of the occasion, IMHO.

I suggest you wear at least a descent skirt, if not pants.

Ok sir/maam. Was just wondering if a pedal shorts(which is below the knee length) and also a formal top is okay for this semi-formal event. Was just wondering/curious, it doesn't mean that this will be the type of dress code that I am going to wear for the interview.

    To everyone:

I just want to clear up ur minds guys that Im not that type of person you guys are thinking for sure..

Have a nice day! Thank you for all the replies! :)

  16. Rmember you are going to the embassy. You can wear what you wish, no dress code. However, sometimes "dress to impress" means something especially to embassy people. Even though it may be 90F and humid. I still plan on wearing a suit.

fiancee main proposed outfit for embassy interview:

Thanks for the photos! It gives me an idea what to wear... So, maybe a dress and not a business suit..

I would not wear flip flops to the embassy. Just wear the nicest clothes you have and nice shoes. Neat appearance, right?

corz I wont!lol. thanks for the advise. :)

  17. are you going to a party? would you dress like that for a job interview?

    no.

You want to take the interview seriously, not look like someone that might be having another agenda. Dress like the virgin bride. Limit the makeup and accessories, and don't wear any scented products.

ok, thanks. I'm pretty sure I will look like elegant and respected.:thumbs:

Hi, please dress properly. Wear something formal, black pants and blouse ( not a revealing one) and choose light color. Wearing formal attire will be additional points for you likewise it begets respect from you and respect to the consul as well. Hope this helps. Have a good one.

    Yes, I will. Salamat. :)

  18. Ok guys thanks for the replies! Been to a tourist visa interview before and I was wearing a business attire and I'm not really comfortable wearin' that.. So, maybe I will just wear a formal casual then.. Thanks for the ideas! :)

  19. Hello vj's,

My fiance forgot to put our (biological) son on l-129F form thinking he don't need to petition our son under the "list all your fiance's children" . Is there anything we can do about it now, or do we have to wait till we have our interview date and make a notarized letter from him stating that he is aware of the discrepancies between the facts stated on the petition and actual circumstances and still wishes to proceed to marriage.

Any suggestion will be appreciated. TIA

    aileen

No need. Cos ur baby is qualified for citizenship already and once approved of his CRBA, he is now then qualified to apply for a US passport. :)

  20. Well her interview was on June 15, 2011 in Manila.

She and the three boys had their Physicals at St Luke’s on June 7th – Three days for the youngest boy.

Interview for the Kids they all passed just a few questions about my full name, How many times I have come to the Philippines to see them all. The consular was surprised when they said 8 times in two and a half years. Where were we all going to live?

Rina was asked more question most of which I can not remember but I will ask again and post later.

She did not have a NBI under the last name of her first husband. She said she never used his name on official documents so we did not pursue this. Now I wish we had.

This has since been requested from NSO, received and sent via 2GO to the embassy while still in Manila.

She needed something else from the NSO but I can not remember what it was but this issue as well is resolved.

She did not have the CENOMAR proving the first marriage was officially over.

We did not pursue this either since it ended in his death long time ago and she was since remarried and that one we did prove was officially over. Again I guess we should have over prepared for these contingencies.

Once this is received she needs to return her passport to the Embassy.

This is the only document we are waiting on. It will be ready is supposedly 5 working days and the Embassy will pick it up by their own methods. Once this is received then the visas will all be issued and then it will take 2 weeks to courier to her house in Iligan.

I can not believe the hardest stage of this process is almost over and she and the kids will be with me in Dallas.

    Hopefully by Mid July.

    Good Luck one and all.

    Congratz!

  21. i didn't expected that my noa2 will come this soon just almost 3months of waiting..so i just applied my passport the other day and i received my noa2 just yesterday  .. worst is i will be getting my passport after 40 days (since they are upgrading their machines to e-passport thats why it will take awhile to get it) My question is, is it enough to show my noa2 to them? im planning to go to the local then to the main dfa if i requested to expedite.. its already expedited but i need my passport asap coz nvc needs a photocopy of the biographic data of myself, we can't complete the nvc process without it.. so i'm calling anyone who experienced this kind of situation.. i just need a good advice sir and ma'am! thank you so much!:) :)

I thought DFA said that rush processing only takes 15 days... Matagal na yan nag umpisa yang e-passports... Just give ur local DFA a call and tell them about your concern.

    Congratulations sa I-129F approval! :)

  22. I think the k1 instruction said "other contry police certificates". if the OP's fiancee didn't reside outside the PI for more than 6 months, then local policce clearance won't be needed anymore since an NBI certificate will be issued plus NBI clearance is better than police clearance.

I plan on just bring what is told on the instruction.

  23. Hey VJérs .. A quick update from Manila .. Rain and I were approved for our K1 Visa today. We're 24 years apart, she's 18 years old, I was married to a Filipina before, and we had no problems. Maybe it was our good looks combined that got us through :-) We were well documented though and I attended the interview. Our faith in The Lord Jesus Christ got us through the difficult times and brought us together. God is great! All the best to everyone ... our life-long adventure together has just begun. Ingat!!

    ...Paul & Rain...

This gives me a positive hope! Me and my fiance have 21 years age gap, I'm 22. And he was previously married to a filipina too. Hope we will be approve too on our interview. Btw, did the CO ask questions to you too? If so, what type of questions if you don't mind me asking?

Anyway, congratz to both of you Paul and Rain! :)
