  1. Well VJ

We are finally approved and now waiting to have the Visa in Hand.

She lives in Iligan city Mindanao, so we are worried about the delay in days to arrive there from Manila.

I have asked her to call the 2GO office at the embassy or some where and try to have the VISA held there.

Anyone have any idea how we can get it held there instead of mailed to Iligan city Mindanao?

I would like to know if it is safe to book flights for August 7 and CFO for the preceding Friday.

She should have the visa in hand.

Thanks all my VJ friends and the lord above for all the help and prayers.

Hey mike! I think during the interview, applicants are given the options of how they want their passport with visa to be delivered. Like deliver at home address, office address, at 2GO branch, or just pick it up at the embassy... What did she write in the 2GO form? Did she picked to deliver it to her home address? If so, it doesn't hurt to call 2GO at the embassy to raise your question... :)

Congratz on the visa approval!!!:dance:

Maybe I'll move/rent her apartment when they're gone if someone doesn't reserve it yet. :)

  2. hi guys! question, when can I call USCIS for the MNL case number? Can i call them even if I didn't receive yet the hard copy of NOA2? And when I receive the hard copy of noa2 does it says the MNL case number in the letter? a lot of questions, sorry but hope to hear from u guys soon. godbless!

It is not the USCIS that you will call to, it's the NVC. Give it a week or two after you got your NOA2 to call NVC for the case number. It would be best to have the NOA2 on hand before contacting NVC for the case number. NOA2 document does not contain your MNL case number. NVC will send the petitioner a letter with the case number on it. Sometimes the petitioner will not receive a letter from the NVC (like in our case). What we did is to just keep contacting NVC. :)

  3. My fiance has been calling the NVC, sending emails to them to inquire about our status. Today he received this email.

Is this a good news or another never ending waiting game? I just wonder about what "agents" refer to in this email? :help:

It's been over one month since our NOA2

Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) contacted U.S.

Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) to locate your approved

petition. USCIS has informed the NVC, that your petition will be en

route to the NVC. Once we have received your petition, the appropriate

agent will receive further instructions within 6 to 8 weeks.

Actually you could be the agent too as the beneficiary of the petition. Like me, I was the one(because fiance is busy from deployment process) emailing and calling(thru google talk) NVC and got the case number after over a month from NOA2.

Actually I got the same email like the one ur fiance got from NVC. It's not really a problem though, just a waiting game..

  4. So I believe that aos fee is $88. What if we had a joint sponsor are we still going to pay another $88 for our joint sponsor's I-864a form? And do we need to pay the fee first before downloading the form? Thanks so much guys I hope you can help us with this... =)

AOS fee is only 88????? :o -CORZ NOT!!!! :bonk: It's over a thousand dollars. :)

    Forms are FREE. :)

  5. Hi, I am trying to find out information about Passports. I live in the USA and my wife lives in the Philippines. Her name did not change after our marriage because we did not file the legal name change. She already has a passport in her maiden name. My question is, does she need to change her name and passport information to my last name before I file for her visa? I want to make sure I do this properly. The process is already complicated enough without adding more things to do. If anyone has went through this issue, I would love to hear your input. Im gonna be a DAD! :) So I want to do this as soon as possible. Thanks

I think all she needs to do (if she wants to use her married name) is to renew her passport and present the marriage cert as proof of name change. And I think her passport should be in her married name too. Doesnt hurt to renew it though with her married name on it..

Congratz ur going to be a dad!:dance:

  6. What I'm asking is this. Woman = Canadian Citizen, Man = U.S. Citizen, legally married. I assume (provided record of live birth abroad paperwork is done)we can get the Children US citizenship (till age 18), What I'm curious to know is can a child with such citizenship be able to sponsor a Canadian Citizen? (all above info was told to me and I'm unsure if facts are correct)

    Ty for any info.

A child? Less than 18? No income?

    -I don't think they can/allowed to sponsor a non-US citizen.

  7. My fiance advised me to just mail off some of my things that I will need (mainly books and baby crib and some stuff), asked me to bring just clothes that I will need for the trip, told me to bring almost nothing. lol. cos everything can be bought in the US according to him.

About money, we plan to change my pesos in my PI bank savings to dollars before I leave and deposit them to the USAA account I had in the US.

I guess, less than 500 will do for everything (travel money).

Bring original and some certified copies of the original documents you have as what the other poster said.

  8. I'm not sure how it is in other parts of the country, but here where I live there is a growing demand for health care workers. It is difficult though for new graduates to get hired, but it does happen. If you have your Bachelors in Nursing, once you are certified in a state, I think you should be able to find work, but it might take some careful planning, persistence and being at the right place at the right time. :)

  9. After talking with my wife about this (trying to get your high school transcripts evaluated) she said it would be a lot easier to just take the equivalency test (GED).

If she completed one or more years of higher education (bachelor's degree,etc..), no need to have her secondary education transcripts (HS) evaluated. Just the transcripts in the higher education she attended.

  10. You mean from the Philippines? I believe you have to pass an exam here to work as a nurse, but I'm sure there are places that will someone without experience.

Of course, I have to pass the NCLEX-RN to get an RN license in the US and to be able to work there as a nurse. What I mean is, any good job in the medical area other than RN..

  11. Nope. She could get a job at a dental office with little to no experience and no training. It depends on where you live and the place she's applying at. There is no state requirement to be certified as a medical assistant that I'm aware of. You can check with your state, but IMO, the whole certificate thing is a ploy to get naive people to pay a chunk of money for training they don't need.

What kind of pay is she looking or hoping for? Because most MA jobs aren't going to pay any more than if she worked in retail. A CNA license is legit though because it is required by the Feds for quality of health care professionals, however, some long term facilities will hire Caretakers and they can do certain, limited tasks. There's a whole slew of jobs in the medical field that she could potentially get hired for, and most of the entry level don't require any formal training or certification. Save the money or use it on something that is legit.

I think if the person wants to apply for a CNA or RN license in the state he/she intends to have a license with, then WES might not be a good service for credential evaluation I think.. I would suggest to check on the BON website of the state the applicant wants to have a license with (for RN license, LPN, CNA,...), they have lists of reccommended credential evaluation services like ERES, CGFNS, etc..

But if you simply just want to study in the US (non-medical field courses), WES might be great to have your credentials evaluated.

Anyone is free to correct me if I'm wrong.

  12. can u explain to me how they do the sputum test?

A sputum sample is obtained by coughing deeply and expelling the material that comes from the lungs into a sterile cup. The sample is taken to a labarotory and placed in a medium under conditions that allow the organisms to grow. A positive culture may identify disease-producing organisms that may help diagnose bronchitis, tuberculosis, a lung abscess, or pneumonia. :)

Hello. Do you think a BS in Nursing graduate (not RN) could get a job within the medical field even if no work experience? Just wondering.

  14. Hello VJ,s

I am so frustrated now, had my CRBA appointment today but it goes undergo a DNA test due to a proof of parent's relationship prior to conception of the applicant ( e.g. photos, letters, etc)

They asked me some pictures for the 2 of us together before my pregnancy but i only have one picture since we didn't have any cameras at that time...in emails, we don't use an email since we are chatting most of everyday and had my chat logs recorded currently this year,so i have nothing to do on it,our conversations are gone?...What should i do now?...please advise me!..Thank you!

We had the same prob before. To solve our prob, we simply did the DNA test as recommended by the embassy. And wait for the results.

    ....

and we got my baby's CRBA and US passport at the end!

Your baby will be denied of any kind of US visas if he/she has a claim to US citizenship.

To make sure, just do the DNA if you can't be able to provide the additional docs they asked.

  15. I also applied for a tourist visa like 4 years ago and got denied because they found out that I'm in a nursing school. They are really on the lookout for nurses applying for tourist visa. But I guess since yours got approved, there's no need to worry about it.. thanks for your reply! :) oh btw When did u graduate?

March 2010. Will take NLE on Dec 2011 for the first time. :) Hope I will pass...hehe :)

  16. Hi guys!!! is anyone here a nurse? I mean the benefeciary being the nurse and got approved or has had any problems because the immigration people might think that we're only doing it for immigration purposes only. I need your input guys! thanks!

But you know what, when I had my tourist visa interview at the consulate before (2010), they asked me a lot of questions about my educational level (which I think is one of the reasons of the denial).. And since my boyfriend(who is now my fiance, the petitioner for my K1) is the one inviting me to come to the US plus because I was not able to provide STRONG evidences that I will return the PI after the visit, they refused me for the tourist visa.. :(

Now, we're on K1 route like you not for immigration but for building a life together. (L) And everything seems fine so far.. Hopefully my medical and interview will be doin' okay too.. :star:

  17. Hi guys!!! is anyone here a nurse? I mean the benefeciary being the nurse and got approved or has had any problems because the immigration people might think that we're only doing it for immigration purposes only. I need your input guys! thanks!

Though I'm not registered yet, but our I-129F petition was approved in 67 days from NOA1!

You need to have strong evidences of a bonafide relationship and ofcourse the basic requirement is you two have met within the last 2 years before ur petition was filed and evidences that you two are legally free to marry, etc.. :)

  18. Who gets this appointment letter and where do they send it?

hee.. You will get it after you schedule ur interview either online or by calling to their call center agent. you, beneficiary, will get it thru email.

ofcourse you cant be able to schedule an appointment unless ur done paying the 350 visa fee and u cant proceed to make interview appointment and also medical exam unless you have ur manila case number ready.
