  1. There's your answer doll. In order to receive your interview date, you have to complete the DS-230 (Part 1) and return in to the Embassy. However, I know a few people have had issue with emailing it. So, I can't tell you if that will work.

FYI...There is a post with the Packet 3 list in the Caribbean portal, that will give you all the list of documents you will need to carry to the interview. The directions will tell you to fill out the DS-230 (Part 1) and will tell you what other documents will need to be completed. You will send the DS-230 back at which point they will send you Packekt 4 (your interview letter).

If you search a little further back, you can find both 3 and 4 on here. The only thing that has really changed are the prices... and maybe the amount of passport photos you must bring with you to medical and interview.

  2. Whoooo ~Huge Sigh~ So very sorry you are going through this.....

In closing, you should clown his dumb a**! I for one HATE liars and deceivers but what I hate more is a BAD deceiver. Like if your going to "con" me or whatever hell let the ink dry on the da*n marriage cert first! I mean come on thats all it took was a lil "freedom" for true colors to show. Da*n, I'd hate to see if he never had a vacation for years; boy he'd be buck-wild! See know Im mad and I dont even know him, but just the thought of someone taking someone's heart, love, generousity, care and concern then take it as a sign that your weak! Well sister, dry your tears, get to FL and see what the he*l is so da*n fascinating that he is stupid enough to jeopardize you, your marriage and immigration. Tell him you ain't worried I can't be deported, B!

Okay take care, Im in Seattle. I travel for a**-kickns!

This was my initial response too! I'm all about beating somebody down for their foolishness!

But in all honesty, this is a decision only you can make. I think it very wise of you to converse with people like Johny and Hanging in There who have posted in this topic and see what route they went. Then consider your situation and how they may be similar or different. From there you can decide if it's the route you want to go.

In all honesty, my personal opinion is that no one deserves this treatment. Yes, as stated by others, you may want to hold out and see if you two can work things out. But as someone else stated, if HE is telling you he wants a divorce then why would you want to burden yourself by convincing him that he doesn't. I'm almost sure that will not benefit you in the future.

Anywho... I'm sorry you've gone through this. I remember reading your review of the interview and I've followed your timeline. Unfrotunately, your K-1 process is very recent and this is something that (if attributed to fear, culture shock, nervousness... or whatever) should not have occurred so soon if he truly loved you and wanted to spend the rest of his life with you. But no one can evaluate his state of mind right now.

Good luck in your journey to happiness. Please remember to guard yourself at all times. Start resurrecting your life as an unmarried individual when it comes to your finances and other legal areas. Sort out your bills, collect your documents, and then decide what you want. Make sure you have evidence of HIS intent as well as yours.

  3. OMG, the most bizarre thing just happened! I have faithfully checked the USCIS website for my case status every day since receiving my NOA1 (truth be told, sometimes 2 or even 20 times a day...I'm that level of #######). Every time it has had the sames message...On December 1, 2010, we received...yadda yadda yadda.

You know what it says now?

On November 26, 2010, we received this yadda yadda yadda.

Holy #######! They changed dates! That is so weird...I guess this means I'm no longer a December filer too! Oh well, try to kick me out...jus try!

If they're pushing up the date that can't be a bad thing! lol. But since I'm at VSC... I won't even bother checking. I know NOTHING has changed there!

  4. You've received some good advice thus far. It is imperative that you show that you two have a bonafide relationship. Unfortunately, only pictures from your wedding may not be enough. I definitely suggest trying to take another trip if it is fiscally possible. I would not, however, suggest you quit your job again. Remember you also have to show that you are stable here as well and able to support your husband upon his arrival in the states. Good luck.

  5. In Jordan and as an Arab girl, the "wedding" status is only announced after the wedding party, and the "engaged" status is confirmed not by verbal proposal like it's done in the US between Americans but through signing a mutual contract of our bond, which is considered an engagement. My concern is that if we go ahead with the K1, is the American Government going to consider us married while the Jordanian one considers us engaged? It's done differently here and there so I really don't know what the correct visa is.

So, are you saying you are already engaged? Have you already signed the contract? When is your wedding party scheduled? April? Does the party have to be completed or is that your wish to have it completed in Jordan?

The problem is (as many have already stated), if you complete this wedding party the embassy/consulate will ask you that at time of her K-1 interview. If you say it has been completed, they will know that you have a recognized marriage in Jordan and will tell you to file the CR-1. The CR-1 can NOT be filed until you have had your wedding. Regardless of the different custom, it's how the ceremony will be viewed by your consulate/embassy that matters.

I'm not sure if I'm understanding when you will be married versus when you are saying you will be engaged. You said in your original post taht you were getting married. Now you're talking about a wedding party but being engaged. Which is it?

  6. In Jamaica - I believe they are valid for 6 months - However, there was a recent situation (I think it was June) where people that had interviews were blue slipped and told to get a new police report - due to the whole Dudus / corruption / etc.... issues going on -

Glad he got through with it. Hopefully, you'll be good to go when your time comes around. The above mentioned quote is why we haven't rushed to get it yet. Anyways... how was the process? Did he give any specifics? 6:30am to 10am is not that bad, I guess! lol

  7. Hey GC2010. Previous AJ employee coming at you with info....

Air Jamaica will not be opening any other routes in Florida. Their conversion to Caribbean Airlines will be complete very soon! Additionally, their only active direct flight from Montego Bay or Kingston are into Fort Lauderdale. If you chose this option (with AJ, AA) you would need to secure transportation for a 3 to 3.5 hour drive up to the Central Florida area. Spirit does have a connecting flight to Orlando.

Now, your other options are as follows:

Spirit: Kingston or Montego Bay/Fort Lauderdale (FLL)/Orlando (MCO)

    American Airlines: Kingston /MIA (MIA)

    Jet Blue: Montego Bay/Orlando (MCO)

    Airtran: Montego Bay/Orlando (MCO)

Additionally, there is no longer a driect flight from Jamaica to Tampa, FL. You would have to either fly into Orlando and drive the hour to Tampa... or fly into Ft. Lauderdale or Miami and connect on a US airline to Tampa.

    Hope this helps. Happy travels.

  8. Hey there OP! It seems to me that if you are relying only on your income, then you are correct. Your income for 2010 will be too low for the most previous tax year, which at this point is 2010. However, if the other methods of income can be attributed then you may just squeak by (if I'm adding up the totals you've provided accuartely). I'm also assuming that your income needs to be sufficient for two people (no kids, etc?).

Have you taken the time to accurately go through your finances? I know you said your bank account would not suffice. What about other assets? Are you sure what you made in the last year will not meet the 125% poverty guideline. What is it... $18,212 for two people? If you needed to go the co-sponsor route are you certain you have no one that could help you? Close relative etc? Dig deep.

    Good luck.

*Edited to add - Technically, it seems if you were on unemployment for the entire year at the rate you make now you would be just over the 125% guideline for two people. However, each state determines what is a "means-tested public benefit"... so idk if Unemployment would be considered one or not.

  9. I think you've pretty much received the advice you NEED to hear.

There is no rhyme or rhythm to the processing of I-129f applications. Unless you fit into a specific criteria that affords you an expedited process you're stuck in the waiting game. Once the game starts, its just a matter of which player comes along. That is what will determine how fast your process goes.

To support the statements from everyone else... do NOT make any permanent, non-refundable plans until you have your NOA2. It will make things much easier for you in the long run if you are not one of those lucky ones.

    Happy filing.

  10. Yes, you are one of the very lucky few. Congrats to you. Count your blessing and buy a lottery ticket.

    John

This is very true. I can't help but be a little green. However, I know that there are people in the SC's doing work. I'll take it. Happy filing to all my other VJ family members... and good luck to the OP on the rest of their journey!
