in an established relationship, i would think most men would find a way to accept their wife earning more. but starting out that way?

Maybe that effeminate comment I received the other day was true lol, because I would be very much happy if my wife made more than me.

Yeap, mixed matched salaries and education is hard to match. More because of male ego. I believe if it wasn't for the gross misuse and neglect of wives we would not have seen a huge push of feminism and independence of women. In the older days, fathers worked hard but also had multiple households....

Yeah, so what is happening here is the marriage rate has dropped drastically. People in their late teens, early twenties look at their parents' marriages and think "no way". Guys don't want to work as hard as their fathers, and women don't want to be full time housewives, on the whole...great increase in women at medical school for instance..Yeah, so what is happening here is the marriage rate has dropped drastically. i don't know about college but as far as careers go, mismatched salaries are difficult to manage in a relationship. some men can't stand the constant challenge to their ego. which is understandable to a degree, there are still tons of men out there who base their self worth on being a provider, but in a chivalrous sense. they emotionally need to be 'the man' in that stereotypical role.

that whole list just through me way off. i'm familiar with the term columbusing but it seems to me that most items on this list are simply trends that will rise and fall with popular culture. for as long as i can remember, timberlands have been fashionable. and the slang term 'bae' i've only ever heard little white girls use - and fairly recently, bae isn't a new word? and just because whole foods tries to market collard greens as the next best thing or whatever, doesn't mean that it's been columbused. collard greens and hamhocks are a southern staple. rap music was columbused - and in the early nineties. i feel like the examples given in this list are just a list of trends found in pop culture. i mean, i remember gwen stefani wearing the knot hairstyle back when i was in highschool. but then i guess no doubt was columbusing ska. meh..

Great find, and video. If you are wondering about the constant use of the word "goo" the Japanese shorten the word "good" to "goo", so Nippon goo means Nippon good etc.

In many ways, the young men who take my seminar typically, 20 percent of the class mirror national trends. Based on their grades and writing assignments, its clear that they spend less time on homework than female students do; and while every bit as intelligent, they earn lower grades with studied indifference. When I asked one of my male students why he didnt openly fret about grades the way so many women do, he said: Nothings worse for a guy than looking like a Try Hard.
The article points men don't take education serios.

someone needs to tell kids today that white people have had dreads for quite some time. they're called hippies. they're usually dirty. dreads are a part of american culture at this point. that's what i don't get, culturally - dreads are closer to rastafarianism than anything else.

I've posted the FBI tables for you before.. Just look back at those and ignore them again. Nothing is going to change your mind so relly there is no need to post them again, We have climate deniers, anti-vaxers, believers in god, guns don't kill people, GMO food is goign to kill us all, etc.. This is your gree gree! I'm giving it to you.. I know! Your welcome.
Though.. Really.. That's a tad unfair - I don't think the stats are all that important (or at least not proven to be important). When it breaks down only by race it makes some causation/correlation assumptions, we might see some more important correlations if we broke it down by income, education, etc.. What really bugs me is we *don't* do this because people are afraid of what could be found (or rather not found).

I was fortunate enough to read the first account of this on Reuters - the headline was also inaccurate but they at least had the story mostly correct in their main text - the Daily mail headline was the worst I saw:
The headline: Muslim woman is mown down by grinning far-right activist who then stops to take a PICTURE during anti-Islam rally
The "anti Islam rally" consisted of 50 police, 30 protesters, and 400 counter protesters. The woman was run over by two young drunk local muslim men who had driven through the police lines. They never stopped to take a picture, the one shown on the web sites was done before the accident with the woman.

There's still room for improvement. The poorly labelled graph below shows sugar intake in grams per day per person. That's put's the average consumption per person in America at over 100 pounds per year.

That would be my advice if someone from this area asked me what they should do. It may not be the best solution for the area as a whole but it is the best choice for someone living in that situation.
There is an entire sub culture here that is anti-education, glorifies crime and builds reputations based on spent time in jail, and is anti-police. We can go round and round about what is cause and what is effect but this can't be fixed from the outside without wholesale changes and buy-in from those on the inside. They are unwilling to make those changes so those that want something different should just leave.
Sounds a little like the EU migrant debate - only in this case it is legal and their right to do so.

The west is going down a path where it is living off of debt and other ideals that can't be sustained. it leads to more and more extreme behavior on all sides. If we measure "better" by the ability to survive then we have some serious work to do. I believe Western culture is the one that can evolve to be the culture that is best suited for personal happiness and societal growth.
However looking at current trends we could enter another era of religious dark ages and spend a few centuries with no scientific or cultural progression where any kind of growth is considered bad. We could also become a world where the vast majority are destitute with no middle class and very small minority controlling the resources.
