  1. Hello. I'm planning a trip to New Delhi and would like to leave mid June and return mid August. I'm asking for tips on how to get the best prices. How soon should I purchase? I'm familiar with kayak. As of now the cheapest round trip tickets for my dates are in the $1800 range. Any tips/advice would be most obliged.

Bun!!!! I meant bun. Sorry :( Im on a phone

  3. You could not convince one single person here that she is not trying by all means to get a green card, man how do you suppose to convince immigration ?No way...no how...You will get in trouble with her in the immigration aspects and in your private life as well. She is a fraudster and she is a liar as well, she got married with someone and just told you after the marriage? Do you really think she has values to be a great wife and i good mother? I don't think so, when you are not a good citizen, when you break law/rules you are a not good person in general.Actions speak louder than words. She said she loves you,but her actions showed someone without values. There is no way immigration will believe in your marriage , they will think she got married and divorced and she was so desperated to get a Green card that she got married with you in a matter of days/weeks...really?

Read the above post over and over again.

Seriously, anyone who commits fraud is just shady in character. You can do so much better.

  4. I thought it was common knowledge that food stamps are not, and were not ever, intended to provide the entire food budget for a family. Apparently not. $130 for one person would be a sizeable portion of the food bill, we spend about that much per week for a family of 3, of course we do not much processed food...not at all Ukrainian.

The cheapest foods are not the most unhealthy, the cheapest foods are the basic foods...potatoes, rice, meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, salad, bread...all unprocessed, all cheap. Soup is homemade from broth of boiling meat and adding noodles and vegetables. OMG who thought of that!!!!!?????? At least compared to their processed counterparts all of these things are very cheap and healthy. If they were not cheap they would not be the staple foods of impoversihed nations around the world and the populations of poor countries would be fat. We drink water, coffee, tea or milk fresh from the cow, from the farm. We know the cow it comes from. Eggs from the chickens on the farm.

The problem we have in this country is that poor people are not poor, they actually have the equivilent income/benefits of $58,000 per year for a family of 3, for example. They eat processed foods which they can afford because they are heavily subsidized, and they sit in front of big screen TVs eating their chicken nuggets and Mac & Cheese.

Now I am not complaining, and I have no intention of doing that myself, but the reason that obesity and diabetes is rampant in poor people in this country is NOT because cheap food is the healthiest

This is just ignorant talk, no surprise.

I agree 100% with you, Gary! I'm on a strict budget. I must watch how much I spend on food. The staples you listed are spot on. Very inexpensive compared to a cart full of processed foods and junk (with the exception of ramen noodles, I guess).

  5. Facebook is not worth the hassle. Permenantly deleting it was a wise choice, although I do miss Slim's comments.

Also, I do not discuss politics with students. I couldn't tell you how many of them asked: who are you going to vote for or who did you vote for? I politely replied: I do not discuss politics with students.

I, too, heard these things this year: Obama better win. We need our food stamps. AND Don't vote for Romney. He's racist!

I don't ever recall food stamps being terminated under a republican's presidency.

  6. I'm not happy with my car insurance. When my daughter graduated from college I went to drop her and her car from my insurance. Getting my agent to do that was like pulling teeth. I finally got forceful and he dropped her. My monthly payments went from almost $300 to $110. The policy renewed Oct 2012. My Oct bill was $180. I went to the office and the secretary told me because the policy renewed it was "fees" and that it was only for the first month of the policy. I got my Nov bill and it was, again, $180. I emailed my agent who didn't reply back. I called and he said he had not emailed back because he was "looking into it" and would "fix it". It's Nov 14 and my payment is due Nov 16. I'm disgruntled. This isn't the only time my agent pissed me off regarding dropping someone from my insurance (ex husband...long story and that took THREE years of repeating over and over DROP HIM from MY insurance). I've been with the same agent sinc e '95 and was being loyal. It's become a hassle being loyal. lol

Anyway, I got an email from my credit union last week offering members to get a free quote. I filled out the form and got my quote today. The reply says it's easy to apply and place their coverage in force. I have to fill out the form and fax it. Do I do that and just not pay my Nov. bill to the "old" insurance? How does this work. I've never changed auto insurance companies before.

    Thank in advance,

    Shal

  7. I respectfully disagree with the opinions of rad2rising, bebero, and aschenbecher.

rkk1, your husband doesn't sound like a bad man. However, he has a sense of entitlement (I'm referring to his request of a car with the tax refund and the plan to send money back home even if it means not contributing to his USA household once he's here).

I don't interpret anything the OP wrote as her demanding her husband pay her bills. Expecting a spouse to carry their weight and put you as a priority is not asking a lot. But perhaps it is for some. headbonk.gif
