2.no,as long as you dont use the words " wedding " or "ceremony"( not sure if engagement party is the same or not ) it wont effect your case.if anything its more evidence

1.after your fiance gets his visa, enters the states and gets married, you will have to apply for AOS,AP,and EAD,ap is a document that allows him to travel before getting his greencard.as far as timezone goes,i dk,about 6 months after you guys get married.

it's crazy because Vermont has been approving left and right. i go to the home page everyday and when i go down the list of people who have been approved they are all from vermont service center. it seems like when California got to June they just stopped.

      Forever Young

Nope, I had known my Husband for the same amount of time when I filed for him. Time isn't an issue...just make sure you have PROOF of your relationship! :D Good luck!

  11. Hey Jamaican man lovers, i have a question. i get alot of negative thoughts about me marrying a Jamaican man. People say that he's using me just to get over to the U.S. and that he's gonna leave me as soon as he gets his green card. but he's the most amazing man i have ever met. i have never known anyone like him and he affects me in a way i cant even describe. Can anyone out there shed some light on my darkness? what are your experiences with your Jamaican man. I just know...

Well, if you are worried about the interview and are not able to take your kids to meet him, you can at least talk on Skype. It's free and gives an opportunity to chat and get to know him a little.

I get this ALL the time. ALL the time form Family and Friends. Just because he is from Jamaica people assume he is a user, they assume that he can't love me for any other quality other than my ability to get him in to the country. I think "You all love me for who I am, and so what makes you think he doesn't also"

I am jamaica myself and even my Jamaica relatives say "don't do it" They all have first hand experience of women and men being used, cheated ...

Hey Girl! People always got something to say about something! I would take that as them saying you dont have discernment. People told me the same thing and I get the twisted looks like yeah right, he dont love you he just trying to get here. All I can guarantee is how I feel and I have never felt this way before. For once in my life I have decided to trust my heart and go with what may not be the comfortable choice to make. There is no guarante of a great relationship with an American...

  12. Hey VJ Fam, i have a question, how do i go about planning my wedding. Me and my fiance want to have a nice wedding but we know that we only have 90 days. Right now i only have a NOA1. Should i start planning now or wait til i get my NOA2?

but do i only have 90 days from the day that he gets here to marry?

    3. ryna

      ryna

yes, only 90 days after entry. But if you need to give a place, for example, 4 months notice, it isn't a deal breaker. You should plan as much as possible w/o committing to dates until the visa is in hand.. This process is too unpredictable, even after NOA2.

thanks, i appreciate your input, i have been looking at places and pricing things but no commitments. i guess i can do that until we get approved and save the money that way we can just pay for everything once he's approved

  13. Hey VJ Fam, i have a few questions.

  14. Hi VJ Fam, i have a question. Does the letter for the biometrics appointment come to me (U.S. citizen) or my fiance' in Jamaica?

    1. menina

      menina

Biometrics should be only at the AOS stage not the visa stage, so it will go to wherever the two of you are living after marriage. (the address you put on your AOS application). Are you asking about the interview letter? That usually gets sent to both of you.

    2. Kelly and Ray

      Kelly and Ray

no i have been seeing on some timelines that people are posting biometrics appointments like 30 days after their NOA1. maybe i'm looking at it wrong.

    3. menina

      menina

As far as I know it is only for AOS after you are married. Are you looking at K1 timelines and not AOS?

  15. Hey VJ fam, i have a question. Does the biometrics letter for the appointment come to me (U.S. citizen) or my fiance'?

  16. hey Menina. did you use a lawyer?

  17. Hi, i am new to the site. I sent off for my fiance' visa 2 weeks ago, but ran into something discouraging. I read something that says an age gap could cause a red flag to go up with immigration. Me and my fiance' are 10 years apart. Has anyone out there been through this before? Where there any problems?

I'm thirty years older than my wife, and this is quite common in foreign marriages. What you read is B.S. We didn't use a lawyer and neither did most of the people we've met here. No problems with the age difference whatsoever. Read the instructions carefully numerous times and do everything they say. Ask questions here if unsure about anything. Congratulations and good luck.
