  1. quick question:

can someone explain what the visitors visa process is like?

my wife will be having a baby in december january and i was wondering what are the chances of her mom being able to come here to help with the baby as we will have a newborn and a 2 year old and the help would be great.

what visa should she go for im guessing the visitors visa. how long does the process take, right now she is getting her passport together, we are hoping it can be done soon so she can come see the baby be born.

i was reading that you can expidite it for medical reasons would pregnancy count?

    thanks in advance.

  2. My SO took the seminar last month right after her interview and got her CFO sticker at the airport right before she flew to the US.

There is a CFO that can give you the sticker at the Airport in terminal 3 after you show tickets to get in the airport, dont let the gaurd tell you there isnt.

think there is one in terminal 2 as well.

    CFO-NAIA Extension Desks

Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminals I, II and III

    Telefax: (02) 879-5685

so you can take the interview and the CFO at the same time, then schedule your flight to allow for enough time to get to manila and get your sticker.

we were in a rush to see each other and tried to shave as much time as possible from being apart.

  3. @Maxx121, my parents is in Cebu too but the visa was delivered in 3 days. But they got it on the 4th day because they weren't there in the house to accept it, and 2go won't give to anyone else even if there is someone in the house.

Oops I see on your timeline that today is here flight...Have a safe trip... Congratulations and Best wishes...:dance:

yup, she flew to manila and picked it up from 2go wharehouse in Pasay then she hoped a flight later in the day after getting the stickerr.

    thanks :)

  4. Promises or not, this is something that should have never been made on your part. It has been well documented on this site ‘don’t’ make any travel planes until your visa is in hand, and in my personal view with the CFO completed as well .

Everyone makes choices in their life that they feel are best for them. You do it your way i do it mine.

Risk vs. Reward. Im fine with the way it worked out, and honestly im not stressing losing a couple hundred bucks in order to see someone i miss very much one week after her interview instead of a month.

If i could have taken more time off work then i would have just been their waiting with her. But being that i just got back from spending 2 weeks over there working from my laptop in the phils wasnt an option.

  5. Thought i would post a write up of my consulate experience cause to me it seems a bit out of the ordinary.

First, everything up to the interview approval was fine with the one small exception of the consulate officer telling my CO that her visa would print the next day and be sent to 2GO the day after, thats when things got crazy.

I called the next day to see if it had printed, it had not and i was told that it takes 7 to 10 working days to recieve the visa. I explained thats not what i was told and all the woman would tell me was "sorry sir" (it seems that is the philipino way of saying screw off in a nice way). Now when i call the next day i called early in the morning allowing enough time for it to be printed but also allowing me time to react if it was not.

To make a long story short it wasnt printed when i called and i spent the entire night pissing people off till finally i was put in contact with a gentleman who who said he was the assistant to the cheif something or other (cant remember the guys exact title) and asked me to explain what my issue was. He then put me on hold for a while and came back and told me my visa had been printed (oh what a suprise) and that it would take an additional 2 days to process for clearances. I then asked him when it would be at 2go and he said teusday, i said fine i will reschedule my flight from saturday to wednesday and have my fiance in manila on teusday. he assured me their would be no further issue as he would see to it that it was sent.

I then called the next day for a status and could not get through to immigrant visa's, the receptionist could not do anything as all she would say all night was the lines were busy and there are only two extensions to call. I was then put through to her supervisor and after about 10 minutes she found the gentleman that i spoke to the night before. He asked if i was calling for a status update and i said yes.

after a few minutes he came back and said that they are currently working on my SO's visa and would have it picked up and delivered to 2GO by noon on monday, I asked him if he was sure as i have already lost a large sum of money for missing my saturday flight and do not wish to do the same again on my wednesday flight. he assured me that he would go down on monday himself and see to it that it is sent out on monday and that he had a conversation with the CO about my case and his level of clarity.

    CFO - Done

CFO - Sticker - will get teusday

    Flight - Midnight Wed

I tip my hate the the Gentleman at the embassy who helped me out. The CO's friendly assurance's to my SO cost me a pretty penny. The funny thing is i think he is from my area in new york which is the only reason i can guess that he was overly nice to my SO. He knew things about New York only a new yorker would know, specifically a new yorker from queens, which is where i am from.

It was nice of him, but if you are going to tell someone something is going to happen and we should be fine to marry on valentines day, please make it happen. Being a nice guy is one thing, but you gotta follow through on your promises or its an empty gesture that should never have been made.

  6. We met at Cebu airport after 6 year internet courtship. She turned out not to be a girl but was a man. i was angry.

Well i was just kidding. it was fine but she was affrai of pda. i know its a cultural thing. for me strangers views are unimportant. i could care less what people think of me who dont know me. i regret not making a big scene just to embarass her. but i behaved. she was very well dressed a nd pretty. i was dead tired from a 30 hour journey and wearing shorts and feeling grubby. it was fine though. it took about 30 minutes to start knowing her in person. we were engaged 7 days later. i wouldnt say it wasnt unforgettable. but that first contact wasnt as memorable as i would have prefered. it was honestly burdened greatly by my three 50- pound bags of luggage which within 2 minutes of meeting her i was carrying all at once up two flights of stairs to the taxi stand. that airport needs a redesign. during the taxi ride we became less formal. aided in part by her sister who gave us privacy by sitting in the front seat.

Yeah very similar, seeing her the very first time was kinda weird. NO PDA whatsoever, very different from what im used to, not even a little bit. even when i left to return home, she and her mother cried, but NO PDA.

But once we were in the cab it was very different, or if we were in an elevator alone or something. I told her america isnt like that and she explained the cultural thing to me.

but after a lukewarm confirmation meeting :) the trip was very memorable, her sister came with her to greet me and sat in the front seet as when we left for the hotel.

best trip i have taken in my life. love her more than she knows.

  7. I know someone who, when scheduled their interview, got put into an interview for immigrant instead of non-immigrant and they ended up having to reschedule into the correct class. Are you sure this wont do the same?

yup, that CAN happen, thats why its best to call them because it can be a bit confusing.
