I find it very shocking that so many people from Canada would find it "hard" to adapt a new life in the USA. Afterall the two country are very similar in culture.
I mean, think about it, there are millions of new immigrants arriving North america every day, from all over the world, most of them don't even speak English, think about what those people have to go through, and compair it to your's.
I have lived and worked all over the world, I find US is the least "hard" place to immigrant to, we shall see. I guess "hard" is very subjective.

You missed the 2nd stop where the driver was being respectful and the Officer was not neccessariy and blew it out of proportion (IMO on purpose to drive home a point.) That point I will get to at the bottom.
Actually you got part of the reference your sensitivity to being a cop or former one (I believe we estblished that before) prevents you from seeing the humor in what happened and the value of the story.
    I will explain below.
You are incorrect about the superflous orf the post. The post hit dead on on what not to say and what not to do.
The Cop was in the right to pull the driver over (me) and issued a ticket the second cop and 3rd cop as well even though the 3rd did not issue a ticket.
I was in the wrong for making s Samrta$z question/statement that most likely made the cop feel bad or plain ole ticked him off. Not counting haivng tinted windows that required special plates and not having special plates.
The Initial Cop most likely hit the airwaves or posted something about my vehichle and to watch out for the Smartaz$ driving it.
The Sheriff that pulled me over the 2nd time about 20 miles away the next day wasn't buying the respectful attitude or mind set I was in and was trying teach me a lessen
The 3rd stop by the trooper on the state border that stopped me on the way to the airport could not determine my tinted windows until I was stopped unless of course he had super vision of some sort but his parting comment stuck "I really appreciate your respectful attitude and I always hope you remeber that in the future."
Is it possible it was just my luck to be stopped on Friday, Saturday and then Early Monday morning after not driving on Sunday or was there more envolvement?
The Moral of the story is do not be Smarta$z to the cop that pulls you over.
The point that hits the topic is never tell an officer/cop what they should be doing when they are pulling you over.
Rob & Mel ease up on your sensitivity button and let some humor in.

What was between you and slim was between you 2.
My post was in regards to the OP posting which is as it states what not to say to a Police Officer and it mentions what not to do. Which is exactly what my post was regarding with a personal experience.
The story was the humor about how idiotic moments in your life can affect the outcome of a situation such as what happend to me and it was all brought on by me.
2nd cop may have been overzealous but drove home the point. He was the one that snapped my attention to getting the correct tags to have the tint. (sucks that someone had to do that)
In Illinois it is a 75 dollar fine and could be upped if the oddicer wished to driving with obstructed vision which is moving violation. I could be wrong.

If someone has three interactions with the police in their local area and all three are bad... what are they supposed to think?
The "distrust" isn't made up. There are quite a few cops that fit into the psyche of "us against them." Even you post it below. While I won't go far as to say they're out to get everyone, the dynamic between "us and them" is something the "average" citizen just can't understand unless they've been around cops.
Tell your guys to start putting their prints on the trunk lids and back windows. Won't stop them from getting shot, but it could help with ID'ing the suspect later.
Once again, you're semi-correct about "you know who you are looking at and dealing with." That's not necessarily true. It could be one of the great cops... or it could be the guy having a bad day. The difference is the cop can take the citizen to jail - on the spot - and the citizen can only make a phone call or file a complaint after the fact. Quite a different position to be in. The folks who realize that have a little different psyche as well!

Then why was I charged with having a weapon under disability (F-3) while possessing a Concealed Handgun License? A CHL, by it's very nature, proves that I'm not a felon yet for some reason, I was still charged with a felony. How can that be if it's black and white?
That's the whole problem with interacting with law enforcement officers/agents. There is no black and white. It's all grey.

#1 how do you get that i did not "assert my rights"?
#2 no need to get testy we know you rent a cops are a little touchy at not being real "law enforcement" no matter how much you want to be.
#3 rather than just state i am wrong, explain exactly in what i am wrong
#4 all i stated in my posts were facts. you dont like it, well, too bad. doesn't change the truth.
#5 why do you have such a problem with people educating themselves or others about the law and their rights? LOL be careful, impersonating a police officer is illegal
just to be clear... "guards" are not police officers

well, the weather is NICE now -
so maybe this is a great time to get handy with power tools, outside of the house?
start by building a small tool shed, to hold yer power tools
then start building birdhouses from reclaimed used lumber that yer picking up from visiting these 'house remodel sites'
when ya get to 100 birdhouses, hey !!! get to a flea market and sell them !
obviously you've got to kill 3 months of 'waiting' anyway - why not make some extra money?
oh - and the real trick? when yer using yer power tools outside -
    always
wear big hearing protection - similar to the same gear the airport crew uses.
    You'll never hear her.

I'm trying hard not to laugh, but your ignorance is appalling more than it is comedic.
Cops don't keep you safe. High property values keep you safe.
Why do you need to know someone is carrying a firearm? Does that change who they are or what you'd think of them? Would you be "more careful" around them? Would you watch what you said, how you acted, what you did?
Perhaps maybe we should all carry firearms at all time. Can you imagine if everyone was ALWAYS "more careful" and watching what they said, what they did, and how they treated people? Can you imagine if all of America would treat each other how you think people should treat the cops?
You'd probably be a lot safer, no?

like i said before, best not to have contact with them, so it shouldnt get to that point (dogs getting called out). dont do illegal things
best of all know your rights. make all who come in contact with you aware you are exercising your rights... nothing illegal, suspicious, or wrong with that. though a cop may try to coerce you via the attitude of 'if you're innocent then show us'. it's just a ploy to waive your rights.
ever wonder why most cops usually only have other cops as close friends? there's a reason for that. because only another cop can know what it's like to start out decent (in most cases) and have to do dirty things to do their job. it's just the nature of the job. most are young when they go in and they have this "i'm gonna fix/protect/save the world..." but laws tie their hands in the things they can do LEGALLY, the 'bad guys' usually have more money, better weapons, and it gets to a lot of them (more of them than you realize). in their eyes, when they (the cops) break the law it is ok becasue the end justifies the means but that's not right becasue next thing you know, you live in a police state where cops can do stop and frisk FOR NO REASON other than they just chose you on the street (i.e. NY).
there are laws in place to protect us as citizens and i hate when people say oh the law protects the criminals! no, the law protects (or SHOULD protect) ALL of us from a police state. if it protects criminals as well, then so be it. we have protections here (which are quickly diminishing) that many countries dont have.

re: the questions (like "what will you be searching for?" etc) are logical, but keep in mind too many questions (or any in some cases!) can get you labelled confrontational, etc. best thing to do is keep the cop calm... keep tone even, be respectful, and if you have to (in response to them) keep repeating whatever info you've told them. but no matter what, do not fall for them trying to provoke. Like the cop with an attitude about women/guns, it was none of his business WHY i chose to own guns or WHY i chose to have a CCW or any of his other WHYs... a traffic stop is not a place to debate anything, he is not my friend to chit chat with nor share my thoughts, he is there to do a job (period!). no reason to respond with anything other than "sir, just exercising my legal right, sir". he cannot arrest me for not answering all his WHY WHY WHY questions.

Look up narcissistic personality disorder and when all those negatives line up you have a real Narcissist and I do live with one, and her only son is only now recognizing why he thought he was the crazy one for many years.

sorry Harsh, but this is a very naive comment. this is the same mentality cops use to get people to waive their rights... "if you dont have anything to worry about, let us search".
how naive are you about cops in the US? do you also believe the cops are there to protect you? they're not. they're there to take a picture of your dead body at the crime scene. "protection" is something you do for yourself and your family.
you need to know your rights, and do NOT allow them to be trampled.
as far as your other comment, come on! if they have enough to convince a judge to give them a search warrant, they would have already searched your vehicle under that suspicion. now possible what they find in your vehicle could convince a judge to give them a search warrant for your home, but for your car? they will find a reason to search ... "yes your honor, suspect could not stand on his own, was weaving, his eyes were dilated, i smelled alcohol/marijuana, suspect appeared to be high on some type of amphetamin" (sp?).... take your pick. and they can rough you up if they think you are under the influence of a substance (i.e. "suspect had to be restrained"... doesnt matter if you fought them or not).
you need to understand, your "reality" may not be the cop's reality. after you see someone beaten down for no reason (i.e. cop on a person's back on the ground, the person in handcuffs, and cop beating them in head cause they're mad) and the cop screaming "stop fighting" just in case there's cellphone or videotape rolling (which now is against the law in some places = cops on duty being video recorded. too many people used it to show police abuse and the cops didnt like it).
i dont trust any cop. i dont let them in my house, i dont associate with them at all unless necessary. most go in to the job with good intentions but it turns them dirty.
when people teach their children to go to anyone in a uniform for help if in trouble i just shake my head in disbelief... you know how many other "professions" wear a 'uniform', and little kids dont know a cop from a rent a cop from an ice cream man! teach your children to find a woman alone or with chldren. they will pay more attention to a lost child if they dont have a spouse/BF with them, and higher likelihood they will get the child to somewhere safe.
the job is a dirty job, and as such, it makes many men dirty.

No you can't. If you understood why I had done it then your post would reflect that but it doesn't. The fact that you go on about 'christian' and 'muslim' leaders and which ones do what in the name of all things holy makes it eminently plain that you have no understanding of my rationale whatsoever. There is no justification in putting 'muslim' into the majority of stories that one sees it used in in the western media and yet muslim is frequently a banner headline for a story that could just as well have left it out, and if it were about a christian always is left out.
I don't think that's a state of affairs that I wish to shrug my shoulders over, so I will not. It might be the way things are now, but I am not blind to it, nor am I going to ignore it.
