  1. Hey Ricardo,

Your lady did come into the US legally, but, if there's anything pointing at you two love birds having the intent to marry when she entered the US, it may result in your process getting de-railed. This is because the law already has a process in place for fiancees and a similar one for spouses. Having said that, if you guys met and fell in love in the US (after she was already here), you can conclude that there was no intent to circumvent immigration laws, and can adjust status.

She came in on a tourist visa, so if that expired, she is out of status. Not legal, or illegal, straight up immigration limbo. If you guys marry, you could be eligible for Adjustment of Status (form i485), which you would need to file along with the petition for a relative (form i130). Feel free to surf the Adjustment of Status from Tourist (etc) Visas forum. You will get lots of info there.

    Welcome, by the way. :)

  2. Alright guys, package FedEx-ed on Monday 05/21 thanks to a screw up by our apartment office (they had locked up our lease in the manager's cabinet and no copy could be made by the staff). My file was received today 05/23 and signed by A. Scoss, which I think is a generic name or at least the SCOSS part.

Anyhoo, can the lovely folks in charge update my details? :D

  3. We are sending our stuff on, or around May 18th, as it is the first day we can do so. Gotta dust off the cobwebs and get this new process rolling. Can't believe it's almost been 2 years to the date that we were approved...

Looking back at all that Mrs. Knappy and yours truly have accomplished, I can't help but feeling pumped about what's comin' next :D

    Positive vibes to all!

  4. Actually, i've been alive for all 3 raider super bowl victories. Will you still be alive when San Diego finally wins one? :innocent:

"Raiturds" com on, that's just lame. The last really good season the raiders had was 2002 - 2003, you remember when we went to the super bowl. When was the last time the Chargers went? 1995?

Well, I hope you are getting your vitamins and taking care of your health Rob, because it may take a while... How could I forget about the massacre led by Gruden, it was in SD. Great game, even better outcome.

I am 30, hopefully by the time I'm your age, they will have at least one.

  5. Actually a Bronco fan. Last time I checked 69 is still and has always been LXIX. If the sarcasm escapes you we can go SoCal BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAA it was a joke Dude. Did you really go 2001 draft? And still the class of '01 has how many rings? That's right Brees has one w/ the Saints. If it was a 10 key problem and you meant to hit the 4 in lieu of of the one again Eli has a ring and Phyllis has.... yes, a big mouth.

Haha... You wish your mules had a running back as good as LT after Davis retired. Despite the fact we were sucking worse than both the Raiders and Donks put together these days, he managed to make us look good for a long time. Now who do you have to make you look half decent this year... Teblow?

Also, the orange koolaid is dangerous, so dangerous that it makes you see things from a burro perspective. All you saw that night time game between the Bolts and donks was Philips' mocking Jay Cutler? Cuddles never actually stopped grabbing his crotch while looking at Rivers, and Rivers just had a blast punking his whiny, forward pass fumbling, ridiculous self. Ah the memories of him saying "are you serious" and "you gotta be kidding me" when we owned you big time, and knocked you out of the playoffs.

So, what's the forecast this season, considering their 6-0 start last season, and 2-8 record after that?

  6. Oh, Oh I know this one, it was the one where Ryan Leaf was the MVP, what was that LXIX?

Raider fan too, right? Figured by the misuse of roman numerals... Leaf was a bust sure, but we sure made up for it in the 2001 draft, didn't we?

  7. LOL, oh yeah, that was it. More like the Chargers made it a rule that you couldn't buy a ticket to just the San Diego vs. Oakland game. I suppose that is the only way they could keep the Raider Nation from overrunning their stadium. BTW, how long has it been since the Chargers won the super bowl? Oh wait....

My understanding was that Kiffin basically started looking for another job in the 2nd week of the season and essentially checked out.

More like they made the tickets available for season ticket holders, and then released them to the public. It's not the organization's fault that the Raiders have no knowledge of calendar or basic math knowledge. By the way, were you even born when the Raiturds won their last Lombardi? When was the last decent season your team had? at least .500? It's good to bring out the trophy polish and the duster into play, God knows that's how Al is still presentable to the media.

About the JaGrimace incident, check out the cryptkeeper's statement after Kiffin was out. Al clearly states that Kiffin was against having him as a starter, and Al opposed him because he was the future of the franchise. Not to mention that Al likes no one to mess with the rosters (who needs a coach then, right?)

  8. We'll see. I always love going to Raider games down in S.D.. It's great to see more Raider fans there than Charger fans. Granted, I haven't been in a couple of years, but I am going this year and taking my nephew to watch them crush the powder blue power puff girls.

It hasn't been like that for a loooooong time my friend. The thugs got fed up of getting owned by everyone in the stadium. Faider week is like a holiday, and has been for the last 6 or 7 years. I would be careful, being a kid Raider fan can scar you for life

Then again, you may be headed to another game, I don't see you winning anytime soon. Just lose baby!

  9. Actually Al has had a very lucid and good offseason, and his whole debacle with Lane Kiffin is now starting to become clearer and appears to be a sound decision by Al. At least he's willing to spend money on the team and sign players. How are the Charger's holdout's doing?

Actually, Russell got arrested after he was cut from the team. Jason Campbell and Hugh Jackson's offense should be a huge upgrade this season. The only thing that worries me is the run Defense. We have a rookie middle linebacker calling audibles and not much on the outside as far as run support. We should go 8-8 this season, but many are predicting 10-6.

Great, we got enough WRs, a decent LT, and enough material to kick your team's rear over and over again.

Who is predicting a 10 win season? Seriously. 8-8 is a stretch, but 10-6????

  10. My husband is the US citizen. Do you have any idea by how much more the affidavit of support goes up? We've been honest about everything so far. My husband was as surprised as i am about him being a father. Thanks!

About 4600 USD per year, per the guidelines issued by USCIS. The 2010 guidelines had been delayed, and they appear to be the same as 2009. They should change them before January 2011, when the '11 guidelines are due.

  11. I think it would be better for him to find another way to stay in the country because you don't want to get hurt again and why should his

visa status be a burden on you. I know you love him and everything but I just think you are thinking with your heart. I really want him

to find another avenue of obtaining his visa because he is going for a PHD. I don't want you to be used for immigraition purposes again

because you have to learn from your previous mistake. These guys just use women for their own benefit and when they get what they

want they totally act like they don't know who you are anymore. I would advise you to leave him alone with his immigration status. I think

one time is enough to get hurt...................

I think NO ONE here but the OP should decide what the plan is going to be. Not to be rude you are sounding like a nagging mother, and you are passing judgement on someone you don't know. To each his/her own... God willing everything will work out for the OP and whatever she chooses to do.

  12. I was visiting my brother and parents in california, and my wife has to take her USMLE exams. I entered on B2 visa.

As Jim stated, it's not the urgency of travel, rather than you living in IL. I would think that it may show up on the interview, but as long as you are prepared with evidence of the urgency to travel, and your ongoing marriage you should be fine.

I am sure this is not the only case where an intending immigrant has had to leave for an illness in the family, and also that you will not be the last one. However, you do not mention if you really left the country or not...

Finally, I am sorry for your loss.

  13. Wow, scare tactics and misinterpretation of the TOS are bliss for some people here. Then I started thinking, why is there a forum about AOS from multiple visas, B2 included?

As Valerie has said, it is possible, I am another example of this. We had no problems whatsoever, and we are now done for 2 years...

To the person that said you cannot get into the US and marry, you are wrong. My now wife stayed with me in Mexico, we got married, and came back to Mexico. Adding to this, a couple of inspectors talked with us about how we'd go about living together. Back then we were planning to go for the CR-1, but after a couple of weeks with her in Tampa, and a talk with my lawyer, we made the decision, without breaking any rules.

An IO needs to have a really terrible day in my opinion, to start arguing about intent. This is very subjective, unlike other red flags out there. If the OP, like many of us, DID NOT intend to stay permanently, and then changed his mind, and has the means, it is an option.

Having said that, it all falls on the intent to immigrate. If you enter the US to stay for good, you are toast. If you decided to stay after planning to be with your wife, you are good to go.

  14. It will happen on Dec 21. The Mayans said so.

Please show me where the Mayans predicted that a Solar flare would wipe out technology, or the earth plates flipping over like pancakes, or some other apocalyptic scenario. All the Mayans said was that mankind would have a collective change of mindset, be more in tune, and all that zen feelgood stuff... A new era basically, not the end of days.

  15. this is completely incorrect. do not put words into my post that are not there. this is a question regarding how to handle questions that go against religious teaching, and while some may be more secular than others, the Quran is the Quran and that doesnt change.

Ok, my mistake, it's the impression you gave, rather than me putting words in your mouth. That's why the expression "may have" was used, implying uncertainty. Now we know... Get that knot out of your undies straightened out, relax! Geez.

  16. Having to go through the process myself, I don't see how these people had their stuff delayed. Our case was filed in June, and I am now waiting for the card, meaning I am done for 2 years with USCIS, in under 3 months.

Honestly, it takes a bit of time, reasoning and care to file the packets, but once you send them, and do it as instructed in VJ's guides, your success rate is incredibly high. The forms are as you say black and white, and if you have experience in legal paperwork, your son in law has a big plus in his corner.

The only reason I think you should hire a lawyer, is if you had something out of the ordinary, really. If he has a clean record, hasn't overstayed, and did not violate any terms of his visa, you are good to go! All that money you'll save can go to something else.
