  1. Hi everyone,

Please add us on the list!!

We mailed ours out on May 22 and received on May 23 at CSC.

I have been watching this topic quite awhile now.

I'm so happy for those of you whose cash has been taken away from your bank account lol

Congratulations on your case moving forward.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be our turn

  2. Hi Everyone!

First of all congrats to all of you who got their Greencard!

I just received the email that card production is ordered. Wohoo!

    We are so happy!

I just have a question though:

We are leaving on the 23rd to visit my family and friends + having our church wedding in Germany.

I have my Advance Parole. But a few weeks ago I read in this thread, that the AP was taken away from someone at the interview and as far as I remember someone said, that after the Greencard is approved the AP is not valid anymore.

Is that true? What if I don't have the Greencard by the time we're leaving, can I still use my AP?

Sorry, if someone has written this before, but I haven't been able to read the thread lately since my laptop is broken.

I would appreciate it so much! I am happy but worried at the same time right now!

Another question: How long did it take for you to receive the Greencard after you got the Email?

Did it take the full 30 days mentioned in the Email?

    Thank you guys so much!

    Congrats on the card production!!

Well, regarding the trip you may wanna make sure before you go out the country...

When I was at the interview, the officer told me not to use AP since my GC was approved.

If I wanted to travel overseas before I receive GC which he was totally against that I do, I have to make infoPass Appointment. I guess AP loses its authority after GC is already approved...

Please see below for my timeline. I received my GC pretty quick :)

  3. Yes, This is it

Green Card in my hand

Simple white envelop without any sign of Immigration... (but if you google the address, you know it's from Homeland Security!)

Finally, we can set aside this all the worries, frustration, and stress for two years.

Thank you so much for all your help guys!!

As lots of fellow VJ users says, we couldn't go through this without all you guys support!!

    Thank you again :)

  4. Hey guys... I have trouble believing it but I got an email today from USCIS saying that my GC is on its way!!!!!!!!! No interview, no EAD or AP - this seems to good to be true. Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wow, congrats!!

That's super fast and super great news (L)

    At least its moving!!!! :crying:

Seriously though, it seems that the site and updates are a bit out of sync at the moment, at least that is what I hope.

Yea, I believe so too!! People are receiving stuff without any approve notice or even touch.

Yours will be on it's way soon :)

  5. I have a question for the USC's who went to the interview. On the interview letter is requests us to bring our passport or proof of citizenship. I lost my passport 6 months ago and I haven't filed anything because I was hoping it would turn up by now but it hasn't.

My question is did the IO ask to see the USC's passport during the interview? Do you think it would be alright since mine is lost if I brought my birth certificate?

At our interview, IO didn't ask any documentation from my hubby who is USC.

    Hope this helps...

another update! we got the green card in the mail today :) so i shall now go on vacation from USCIS for 2 years thank God! best of luck to everyone thank you!

And of course if theres anything i can help others with feel free to message me.

    :star:

    Congrats!!!

  6. I've received welcome letter on Monday...

WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

This is to notify you that you application for permanent residence has been approved. It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to permanent resident status in the United States....

Yay!!!! We should be receiving a Green Card within next 3 weeks according to the letter but hoping to see that in mail this week :star:

  7. Hello everyone. Below is the general outline of the interview experience. Location: Los Angeles Field Office. Appointment time: 1:45 p.

Got to building at 12:30p. Waited in line OUTSIDE the Federal building to pass security for over an hour! Got upstairs to the USCIS office at 1:42pm. Phewph.

Then, checked in with the lady and waited for another hour and fifteen minutes. Thankfully, I brought a book that I am truly enjoying reading so time went by in a jiffy (for the curious: "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry)

FINALLY, after an hour and some, a man came outside and asked every customer and their party if they had been helped. He realized we were the only ones that hadn't. He took my case number, and checked it against the system and called me up to the window. He said "if the lady doesn't call you in fifteen minutes, i will assign this to someone else. Just let me know"

Afetr that, in less than 5-7 mins...I was called in with my husband.

The lady was seemingly unfriendly and that just made my palms sweat and knees shake. I thought- "#######. We've got some warming up to do". She brought us into her office, which was blaring jazz music. She turned it off and asked us to take the oath. Then get seated. Totally unexpected...the jazz music, I mean.

Then there was a long awkward silence as she was looking through the file- which made me even more nervous.

Finally, she asked us for evidence of joint-anything. We produced joint bank account, car insurance and lease. All tricky because some of them had my maiden name, some my new name- but I think she got the picture.

Next, she asked for my ID, passposrt, proof of work permit and my husband's proof of citizenship. As she looked through that (she was noting all the numbers off our ID's) she asked how we met. We gave her an express version of our meeting, first year of our relationship being long distance, then his move to LA and so on. Our story finally made her laugh a couple times (all thanks to my husband!). Finally, she asked for pictures, and scanned through our wedding album quickly, our engagement pictures even faster and I had snuck in some "during the course of our relationship" pictures in there for good measure which she said we "nice".

After she gave me my pictures back she said "this is grantable. You will receive your Green Card in sixty-days". Screeech....woh-woh-woh. Stop. 60-days?!

Ok- so I obviously needed clarification on the being able to quit my job front. I waited for her to hand me my "Congratulations receipt", put it my binder, closed it, and then said (HAD to make sure she didn't change her mind when I asked her this :innocent: )- "look, I hate my job and I want to quit like tomorrow. I had submitted an EAD request a little later than my main package, but I can't see any status of it in this interview". She said her hand-written "receipt" will serve as authorization to work starting today and that if I wanted to- I could quit and work anywhere I wanted today. In additon, she said "realistically, you will receive your GC in two weeks". (I got my first email update from the USCIS EVER today stating that card production had been ordered a couple hours later). Satisfied, I relaxed.

Then, we talked about general things. Couldn't tell if she was dismissing us or wanted us to stay, so we kep talking till I nudged my husband for us to leave. While we were trying to figure this out, we asked her if she liked her job and how long she's been doing it. She said 14 years, loves it, and if I wanted to join- that they're looking for young people like me to work there. She said "I see you managing this place. You should work here. Pays well, 3 days a month paid time off, and if you're feeling stressed out...you can leave for the day- no questions. If you have a degree, they will jump on you to work here" Food for thought, nonetheless. Might be nice to work a 9-5 granting people green cards and visas all day long and playing detective ;)

Needless to say, she went from bratty to chatty in the course of our interview, which thankfully, I appreciated.

Next, we hit the happy hour downtown LA, got pretty buzzed, call one-hundred people, and went home :)

I am now a permanent resident of the United States of America. Hmmmm...what does this mean aside from being permitted to work anywhere. Must research.

The binder, btw, is necessary (if for nothing else, then peace of mind). Here's how I organized everything:

Tab 1: Proof of relationship. Contents- photos, marriage cert, evidence of joint-accounts, rental-lease

Tab 2: Employment, taxes and finances. Contents- Our pay stubs, letters of assured employment, tax filing for us both

Tab 3: Legal Status. Contents: both our passports, ALL my visas and schools and employment history requiring different visas, my birth certificate

Tab 4: Copies and Applications: Contents: All the above 3 tabs had originals, and this tab had copies of everything. In addition, it had copies of all my applications- just to make sure they weren't missing anything.

This binder made our lives pretty easy. She asked to see the rental lease, insurance and joint bank statements- and we were quickly able to whip it out, show her the original, and then give her a copy of whatever she wanted to keep- you just need one copy per sheet of originals.

I highly recommend it. It forces you to slow down and think about everything you should take with you to the interview (plus, it's a nice thing to have when you get home. In-case of fire/earthquake- it'a a nice GRAB and go!)

Of course, my husband thinks it was overkill. But he's the US citizen...he will never truly get it :bonk:

That's it. Hopefully this post will help those who are reading it. I am finally feeling RElaxed. Tomorrow I will go into work with an Eff You attitude. No more running scared!!

    Congrats!!

Finally, you are free! No more sucking jobs lol

  8. Hello fellow June filers!

I just got back from the interview! I read Jwife's summary and mine went almost exactly the same!

our interviewer was a very friendly nice gentleman. He kept saying how he likes that we're a pair of young peppy happy couple. He said everything looked legit. He just asked basic questions that was on the forms we sent in. My husbands name, dob, address, same for me, where we were born, parents names, how we met, how long we've been living together etc etc. The whole interview only took like 15-20 min and he approved us right then and there!

I even asked for the stamp for re-entry because my brother is getting married overseas in 2 weeks, and he gladly gave me the stamp that would allow me re-entry for 60 days!

He congratulated us both, shook hands several times and we frolicked out of there like two kids coming out of a candy store!

I got the 10 year approval because I've been married for over 2 years. oh, he said the card takes up to 30 days but I should be getting it in the mail in 2-3 weeks :)

I wish everybody luck for their interviews and hope everything goes smoothly as it did for us.

    WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE /happy dance :D

    Congrats!!! Great news!!

John and I went to Detroit yesterday for his AOS interview, and aside from him not remembering MY BIRTHDAY when the adjudicator asked him ....:crying: , everything went very smoothly and he was approved. Before we even got home, we got a text that there had been an update to his case. Checked when we got home and card production has been ordered! That was fast.

The only thing that surprised me about the whole thing (well, aside from my husband not remembering MY BIRTHDAY!!!) was the fact that John's AP is now no good because the AOS has been approved. If he needs to leave the country (has an ill mother), we would have to make an InfoPass appointment and they would put some sort of stamp in his passport so that he could travel. We were so close to Canada being in Detroit and all, it was sure tempting to just cross the border because we could ... should have done it BEFORE the interview

Best of luck to everyone having interviews today and all the new approvals of EADs and APs

Congrats!! It is a great news aside from your husband not remembering YOUR BIRTHDAY lol

  9. I finally received my AP... but if I didn't expedite it, I probably wouldn't have gotten it by now...LOL!

    Still no biometrics letter... LOL!

When i get back from Germany the 3month waiting period will be over and I will be able to just get an infopass and go get it :)

    Congrats!!!

Hello, im July filler. Just wondering: people who got interview letter - do you also got email notification about that? Or just regular letter from uscis?

    Thank you! Good luck

Just received letter without email notification.

  10. Thanks! Yep he doesn't have to work right now. I don't think it's a good idea to go looking for or getting a job when he's going on a visit to his sister and her family in Baltimore Oct. 30th - Nov. 20th. Anything he is just starting now isn't likely to give him the time off and we've already booked the tickets and his family is expecting him. But if he felt he wanted to work like maybe doing some temp work he could technically do it. :) Good thing your husband is working with you too.

He is in the same situation as I am then :)

I'm planning to go to Japan in Mid Oct for 3 weeks to plan our real wedding. But I may try to go to some interviews because some companies are not in hurry to hire someone but are looking for a great asset who can start working sometimes this year... I know this because I used to work for a staffing agency ;) That all depends on if I want it though :P

I'm so grateful that my husband is supporting me...
