Rwlaird reacted to Mr. Big Dog in Visa Waiver Program for Ukraine
Talking about Hitler & Putin...
Seems a bit crass still to compare the two but Putin is working his way to where it may not be crass anymore.

Poor Vladimir Vladimirovich. He's just so misunderstood. He's the only word leader who's got it right and the whole world got it all so wrong.
Russian apparatschiks are so funny!

Sure, the old KGB apparatschik learned from the best. They always backed the leadership by high percentages. Old Soviet habits die hard.
There were, however, anywhere between 50 and 70 thousand Russians protesting against Putin's imperialistic posture and war mongering today. That's encouraging.

Putin has lost this one already. There's no win to be had here for Putin.

I don't think your petition will be successful, but I will not be the one standing in its way. I will gladly sign it.
I commend your initiative, where so many nay-sayers would rather have you sitting on your hands.

I don't know which news outlet you watch, but what has been happening in Ukraine is definitely not a walk in the park. Powder keg it still is. No unrest, violent, now, but no one can predict the future. The situation warrants action on my part. That is why I am doing all I can, even flying over, to make sure they are safe and provided for.

Rwlaird got a reaction from Girl from Celebes in Succcessful B2 Visa during K1 Process.
Others present well documented and prepared applications so that doesn't seem to be the prime determining factor.

Rwlaird reacted to RhettVoe in Petition re: visa for wife's parents
Fair enough...just another example of how our entire visa & immigration system is full of leaks and lack of real, meaningful oversight...and as a result, many bonafide applicants are denied.

I second that. This is a very important distinction!Plenty of people are issued 10 year tourist visas. This does not mean they can stay in the US for 10 years. It means they can use the visa to enter the US for 10 years. Tourist visas usually allow for up to 6 months of stay in the US as a tourist, only. Tourists cannot go to school, cannot live here, and certainly cannot work here. Tourists are tourists.
Her visa expiring in 2 years does not mean she can stay in the country for 2 years. It means she can enter the country for two years. Her length of stay upon each entry is determined by the CBP officer at the port of entry, and should be noted on her entry stamp in her passport. If she has stayed past that date, she is now in the country illegally.

Rwlaird got a reaction from lovex3 in Letter to House Judiciary Committee on delays of I-130
These are the points that may get the attention of House Republicans:
"But worst of all are the reasons for why our government is making us wait. . . . Our government’s present administration decided to broaden the grounds for individuals who came to the US against our laws, to have legal status here. We refer to the programs called, “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals”(DACA) and “Provisional Waiver”. This has opened the floodgates of USCIS to applications, including I-130 petitions for legal residency, from them. We have discovered, for example, that the slowdown of green card (I-130) processing corresponded with the January 2 announcement, and March 4 starting date of the “Provisional Waiver” program. . . . Those who are here illegally, and are invited to apply for legal residency, are relatives of US citizens, and already with their families. In contrast, we followed the law, and subsequently, are separated from our spouses who are abroad, while we wait for our petitions to be approved. The slowdown in the green card processing, due to this influx of immigration forms from those who did not follow the law, keeps us separated from our spouses longer."
If there is any truth to this the House Judiciary Committee and/or the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee might be interested in looking into it.

We have. They're not saying. So maybe the House Judiciary Committe should ask them.

Rwlaird reacted to jaycali in Petition re: visa for wife's parents
To be able to hold a USC accountable for a tourist becoming a public charge, there would have to be a petition-based family visit visa system in place. Not a bad idea really.Non-immigrant visas work much like a credit history/score. For people with no credit, or low credit, a co-signer is usually used.

Rwlaird reacted to jaycali in Petition re: visa for wife's parents
I can understand and appreciate why AOS is possible for F1 and H1b visa holders, and similar long term visas. How someone can come to the US on vacation, fall in love and get married, without having to at least re-enter the US is beyond me, and really does a lot to make this process a lot harder for legitimate tourists and visitors.
-
Rwlaird reacted to jaycali in Petition re: visa for wife's parents
Well written. I agree that many families are treated unfairly in this process, but it is, in part due to the complete lack of enforcement, as well as the relative ease of adjusting status for overstayers - which you do cite.
I'd be for a "no AOS" tourist visa, with limited waivers for extraordinary circumstances.

Rwlaird got a reaction from TravelingFrog6476 in New...with a question re: Ukrainian birth certificate
My wife was born in 78 and I think her birth certificate says CCCP (USSR). Either way, if you translate it as you did here it should work and they won't question it.

Rwlaird reacted to LoveMyTico in Whats wrong with USCIS?
The USCIS doesn't run on tax dollars so I guess they don't have a high standard. They do what they want. The biggest slap in the face is the OCT 2012 line they throw at us.
I am really trying to understand how transferring files from state to state benefits anyone.... Wouldn't it make more sense to scan each file as it comes in and create a PDF version, use the electronic file to work with and store the original file until it goes to the NVC? Then, anyone could access the file and adjudicate it. That would save on postage or freight charges and all that time it takes to box files up and scan them in and out and whatever else they friggin do before it gets shipped... Then , how about an automated adjudication tool? hmmmm just a thought. We all know the background checks dont' take 6 months....
But its a good thing they spent all that time redesigning the USCIS webpage.. I was so worried that would never get done ( SARCASM)

I agree 100%. I've started to look for IT jobs elsewhere, I'm fed up with everything here, not just the shitty USCIS. It's an awful state of affairs.

Our K1 was lost in a blackhole for close to 3 years~ before we decided to swallow our losses and get married.
Yes. We waited the whole time for USCIS/GUZ Consulate to give us a response other than it's still being processed/background checks thinking that the "system" will eventually get to us.. all the while hearing how "oh so and so did it and it was only 2 months.." -.-
Sent a letter to every senator in the US, of the ones that did respond, it said I should be sending to the NY(your state) which none responded. House of Representatives inquiries also came back as security checks being done.
Here's the kicker.
We get a letter in 2010 saying that our approved I-129F is closed out because our I-130 already superceded it.
So yeah. Filed 2006, get reply 2010.
Worst luck of the draw. ever.

NVC is not any better. They have kept my wife's document for over 6 months now. They actually misplaced them for 2 months before frantically finding them because i had sent them through FedEx and had the signature of the staff that signed for them. And those were her original documents. The CS people are so arrogant i don't even want to call them anymore because of the arrogance. No wonder people heat big government in this country. Now i know why? Why do they pay government worker much money witjh tons of benefits when they lazy their butts in their office all day???

I am July so you know what I must feel
yes, our government agencies take to many coffee breaks....
I am thinking our new reforms should not be passed until we get the system fixed
also, I am thinking of moving to filipines(Bohol) so my government pays me to live in another country.....hehe

Rwlaird reacted to thedude6752000 in Whats wrong with USCIS?
I hate it so much when people ask me "You got married? Why didn't she come back with you to the States?" Idiots, no one knows how completely useless, lazy, and badly-run the USCIS is! And no one understands that we have the worst immigration system in the world! If my wife was from a developed country I would never even think about bringing her to this rotting cesspool we call America!
Seriously I have no idea why someone married to a German, Canadian, or British citizen would want to bring their spouses to live here, this country sucks. If I could get work over there I would move in 1 second and never come back.
